Thinking about switching over

Hey! I'm currently a 08 G35 sedan driver and was thinking about switching over to a coupe in a couple of months. Def looking @ other cars as well but I wanted to get a couple of thoughts from people who actually own a g37 coupe. The model I'll be looking @: 2009 G37s six-speed manual coupe in moonlight white with black interior. I just have a couple of questions:

1. The coupe is heavier by several hundred pounds compared to the G35, can you feel that while you drive? (I have never driven a g37 coupe or g35 coupe).
2. Mods: Is Fast Intentions good compared to the stock exhaust?
3. INJEN Cold-Air-Intakes - good on the coupe?
4. Fuel economy
5. For RWD drivers - how is it in the snow?
6. Factory spoiler looks good or no?!

Thank you for answering.

*Yawn*, I just got to work like 30 minutes ago and notice you posted this 3 hours ago.. 5AM over here, lol.

Well let me see if I can help you out -

1. I think you can feel it. Its a tank with power.
2. From my impression of other members, its credible, however not compared to lets say... HKS or Borla. (The tone of Borla is pure orgy.)
3. I don't think anyone likes Injen here. My opinion (And this is pure opinion) - I personally like the feedback and vibe i'm receiving from the Stillen Ultra-Long. I will probably be getting this when I am done with my cosmetics.
4. I drive ~70 miles a day, about 55 of those being highway. I'm averaging 18.1mpg, a bit of agressive, and a bit of cruise control. I think the MPG on this car is quite "ehh". Its competitors (The A5, 335i, etc.) has similiar figures. FWIW, my 335i was averaging 12.5mpg (very spirited driving.)
5. I've seen snow once in my life when i traveled to NY. Sorry can't help you with that; I'm from South Florida.
6. This is based on PURE opinion. You will get mixed feelings. I personally don't like the spoiler, so I settled for my chrome thingy.

Hope this helps...

Another question you should be asking yourself is why you would want to make such a poor financial decision after having a car for only a year?

But as long as you've already funded a decent retirement account and own a home, then... well... it's your money.

Sorry for the soapbox, but you're basically trading from one car to another that's almost exactly the same, and losing several thousands in depreciation in the process for no reason.

<off soapbox>

my advice.. dont go from it.. my friend has a G35 and the only difference between our cars is the seats lol.. the interior is EXACTLY the same you wont even feel you have a new car.. yes a coupe drives better and the sport suspension combined with sport seats do give a better driving feel but will paying thousands of $$$ compensation be worth the switch? Thats up to you
Drop your sedan and let Tony hook you up with a sexy FI for your G35 and call it a day.. and of course FI sounds way better than stock.. in fact anything sounds better than stock because stock has got no sound lol
finally, if you do decide to go for a switch, might as well switch to a completely different car.. to feel like you actually bought a new car
but thats just my opinion

Sorry I forgot to mention that I was keeping both cars. My father actually wants to drive the G35 when he is town (after business trips since he has no car here in the US). Finanically its actually a good step because my family needs another car and my G35 fits perfectly. (not to be rude or cocky)

Thanks for the posts! keep them coming!

Other car(s) I am looking @:
1. 09 Audi A4 2.0T S-Line six speed manual
2. 08 335i coupe w/ Aero kit
3. 08 Evolution X MR

man that changes the whole equation... so you're not switching over..you're just getting a new car! i just wasted 7 lines of wisdom there haha
figure out what it is you exactly want from a car.. and lets hope this thread doesnt turn into another 335 vs G37 thread
cheers,

^yeah def don't want that. I just want some insight from people who own the car and how they like it. The weight issue is def a problem though.

Audi - 3600 pounds
Evo MR - 3400 pounds
335i - 3500 pounds

G37s - 3700 pounds! Crazy for a coupe...

My simple take... since I really dont want to get into details:

If you want...

Speed & fun - BMW 335i
Luxury with a Sports feel and still have nice speed / little fun - G37
Fast Ricer car - Evo
Luxury car with no speed - A4

Exactly.

If you want a new car, what do you want out of it, and what do you dislike about your current ride? If you want more luxury, that's one thing. If you want more sport, then that's another. Fast and power is one thing (335i) but if you want more sport, then really, lighter weight/smaller is what you should be looking at. Maybe wait for the new 370z?

Yeah I def get that for sure. The only reason why the A4 is on my list is because there is a after-market company called Streamline near my university. They are rather creditable and can tune that A4 to about 291 HP/360 TQ with small upgrades. Pretty cool stuff so yeah.

- Not really interested in the 370z though it is sick
- 335i is probably my third choice after G37s Coupe and Audi A4
- Last is the Evo MR (previously owned a Evo 9 MR and loved it)
