Bought mine last November, have low battery warning too.

The key port does not charge the key battery. Batteries could charge through induction without any contact points (like sonicare toothbrush) but no, our key doesn't do that. The key port is for you to be able to start the car if the battery is dead.

My dealer said the battery should last about 2 years. We'll see. 23 months to go.

Can anyone confirm that thats true?

Mine's still good.

My dealer also told me that the dashboard dock "charges" the IK as well. I say Bullcrap!!, that was the main selling point why I bought the car!!

Electric toothbrushes use inductive charging to eliminate contacts.
The CR2032 is a lithiam battery which are not rechargable. Also, don't you have to take the key out of the fob? I think people just get confused because you're supposed to use that option when the battery runs down in the fob.

I'd say your buttons are getting pressed by accident.

Man....this is very discouraging. Is the dealer replacing the batteries for you or are you replacing them yourselves?

Mine are still going strong too. Dunno if new batteries were installed when I turned mine in for the recall.
