Yes...I did notice that. Just wondering if he was in specifically for the key fob or for some other reason. Curious as to if he was in for a recall on a separate issue...why the dealer would be proactive in changing the battery in his key.

Not sure if you now this or not but there was an issue with the old key fobs dieing if you put them in your pocket with a cellphone (I think it was a cellphone) and if killed the key fob. I am pretty sure that they released a recall to replace/repair these key fobs but I am not 100% sure.

Funny my fob's battery ran out of juice after 3 months. I didn't even complain about it to the dealer. Geez, for a $7 battery??? Are you guys serious?

I bought my G37 in November and had to replace the battery in June. Cost me $7.00 to have the dealer do it.

The battery sells for $5.99 at Radio Shack. Dealer charges 6 or 7 bucks.

Glendale Infiniti sold the battery to me for $5 (with Tax) and the service manager installed it for free!

Then I headed out to the Americana to eat at Cheesecake Factory!!

Something occurred to me: who is using the remote door lock/unlock and who isn't? That probably has an effect on the battery life. I just press the button on the handle (nothing to do with the battery, it's just more convenient). I've had the car for 3 months and so far so good.

Yes. My Viper key remote for my old car lasted 7 years. Regardless, I was told the key fob battery should last about 3 years.

Fobs

My M35X is 3 years old... I have two fobs to which I only ever used one...stored the second... the first died after 2 1/2 years of use... started using the second one and it died 6 months later... so... this tells me usage is not much of a factor as the RF is always on ... and I too rarely pushed the fob buttons, I used the buttons on the door and trunk...
So in my case rarely using buttons it lasted 2 1/2 years... not using lasts the three they talk about... same draw as a digital watch battery.

I too am not a big fan of the slot... in my M it was in the lower left most awkward position... the whole idea is the convenience of keeping it in your pocket so why would one take it out once you are in the car.... ?
With house keys and all attached to it... forget the slot... my pocket is where it stayed...

They fixed this issue so it doesn't affect any G37 owner or 08 Sedan owner.
