I had same issue and my dealer replaced my battery for free during an oil change ... they saw it when they pulled the car in the garage for service.

The Intelligent key fob is always transmitting it's signal. Day or night, battery life will vary.

Prolly a hazmat fee too! Just go to sprawlmart and get two batteries for $3.39.
I still think mine ran down because of the buttons being pushed when the fob is in my pocket.

Mine came on yesterday so I'll need to get it replaced. I'm furious about this, not only will I complain to the dealer for a free replacement but I intend on writing a strongly worded letter to the battery company for a free lifetime supply.

In all seriousness, no big deal. I'll change it myself, better this then letting the dealer near it! Everytime my car goes near that place it is returned in worse condition. I'd probably give them the key and it will come back with no battery and a service tech scratching his head.

Mine came on today too!

But rather than be a whiney bitch about it not lasting for 2 or 3 years or however long some of you guys think a battery should last, and rather than driving 50 miles round trip to my dealership at a cost of $5 in gas and wasting 2 hours if my life that I can never get back, I just stopped at the auto parts store on my way home tonight and bought 2 of them for $4.99.

Some of you guys just amaze me that you'll actually complain to the dealer about your remote battery going dead. You'll waste huge amounts if your time, energy, and money for something that costs less than $3. Hillarious!

Mine has come on 5 or 6 times since I bought the car in may. Each time I've put it into the dock in the dash and if I've driven for a significant time with it in there the warning goes away. I'm pretty sure that dock charges the key.

That's interesting but I am almost certain that the dock does not charge the key. Coincidence? I've had my warning go away before too.

there is no way the doc charges the key. there is no contacts on the out side of the key to allow it to "plug" into anything

There doesn't have to be contact points, as it can be charged through induction, like your sonicare toothbrush. But you're right, dock doesn't charge key, common misconception :/
