I need some advice on what to do with my new car.
Hi. I have a Black G37 w/MT6, sport package and 8500 miles on it. I have been having a nasty metal rattling sound coming from my engine and the muffler issue as well. I have taken my car to the dealer at least 2 times for the same problems. I dropped off my car yesterday for the 2nd. oil change and some warranty work on the issues listed above. When I dropped off the car the engine sounds where more than apparent and to me louder than usual. The service writer left my car on so the tech. could here the problem because it wouldn't do it all the time. I was called today from the service writer telling me that Infiniti told them that it could be bad gas or not using premium gas. If this was the case my engine would be knocking, right? I use Chevron or Shell and it's the premium 91 octane so that can't be the problem. The service writer also said that Infiniti is working on the problem even though there guessing on what the problem is. I also told the service writer that the engine used a whole quart of oil when I brought it in. The problem seems to be a lubrication issue vs a gasoline problem. I'm no mechanic but metal hitting metal doesn't seem right when it's coming from the
engine. The service writer said we can't fix it and to come pickup the car and return the rental. What's my other options for my problems? Lemon Law?

If the dealer was able to observe the symptoms and state it is or isn't a problem. The same with oil comsuption. If they say its not a problem then making them put in writing what is an acceptable amount of oil usage or acceptable noise. If they admit that something is wrong and they are not just waiting for replacement parts, force them to keep the car until they can properly diagnose and fix the problem. don't stop at the service writer go to the dept manager. If that fails start to wearout your salesman right in front of the other customers. That will get them a bit more motivated to solve the problem. Last resort call Infiniti customer service.
Find out your state's lemon law guidelines...
because while every state may differ somewhat, you might be better off accepting the vehicle back with the admission that the condition still exists - oftentimes, three trips for the same issue(if unrepaired or not) would qualify for lemon law treatment, as might car out of commission for some cumulative # of days - say 20 or so. But I'm no lawyer, so check the internet(google "how to qualify for lemon law" and you can usually get a free evaluation/guidance from an attorney). I've found Infiniti Consumer Affairs to be pretty weak (i.e. more interested in putting you off than actually addressing your concerns); their answer is usually to direct you back to the dealer. Sorry about your troubles and good luck!

The Tech. was told by Infiniti that replacing parts and trying to troubleshoot the problem was not encourage and may make the problem worse. At this point the service writer's hand was tied and none of the problems resolved making this almost a complete waste of my time. I also told them that other user's on this board with the same car had the rattle and reported that the muffler was the problem and other dealerships have also confirmed this. Getting all these visits documented is a good idea so I can prove that I have tried to address these issues. Thank you!

PatmSb1... we are on the same boat. My car has been to the dealership 3 times and currently still there for the SURGE issue, rough idle, SES always coming on, one cylinder misfiring... Worst of it all they gave me a 04 G35 loaner and it was pratically about to overheat. My car is only 3 months old, babied and only has 2k miles. Anyone knows the fee if I terminate my lease right now ,I have 21 months left!

I've been really disappointed with Infiniti and their service. I've got a problem with my AC...and I've been trying to get Infiniti to fix it but they said there is nothing they can do.

It's to bad because I really like there cars but hate there service. I had a bad feeling after the first time I tried to get a problem resolved. Don't goto Infiniti of Oxnard, California because there service and attitude is very poor. Thank you!
