Has anyone replaced this part?

My roof needs a new Position Sensor (Assembly Main Bearing), weird name for this part.
Main Bearing

It tells the computer where the roof is in its movement. I'm in Canada and I bought the part in the U.S. and havingnit delivered.

The dealer said they will not replace it, so I have to find someone to do it or find out how to do it myself. The dealer is afraid of something else breaking when they do the work.

Is it that hard to replace?

Thanks,
Ian

Not much help here but on BMW the sensor just screws into the bulkhead while the "arm" pops onto the pivot point. Being that this roof is practically the same as BMW (same company) it should be very similar.

It will likely be harder to get to the damn thing than to actually swap it out. It is just a matter of digging in there and sorting things through.

The retractable hardtop (RHT) roof for the G37 was designed by the Karmann Group. The very same.company that designed the RHT for several automakers including BMW (my Zed/4 for instance) and Merc.
