Hello! I am looking for some insight and or help. I picked up a 2010 anniversary edition g37 convertible as a project car and Honestly I am a little over my head with it.
I have gone through the whole top system and manually opened and closed the top and also made sure that each of the accessory motors are in working order. (it's a flood car that ran and drove so I thought it wouldn't take too much to get it up and going all around) each of the motors were pulled and tested with a 12v power source and all of them now work. (the battery was disconnected to keep the system from faulting)
Since doing this the car now blares at me when I am driving over 2 mph because it thinks the top is stuck somewhere in the process of opening or closing. I have triple checked everything and it is all closed and the roof is locked as it should be when it is closed.
I get nothing on the dash when I tell the top to open or close but a couple of times the system started and rolled the windows down and started moving the rear parcel shelf down and then it stopped and the trunk would not lift back as it should. I assume my hydraulic pump is bad but it's a flood car so I have suspected it the whole time just hoped I would get lucky.
onto the Real questions that I need help with. The nearest infiniti dealer (only one in the state of UT) is over an hour away. Is there any way to clear whatever errors may exists to see if the car will attempt the top again?
Why would nothing light up on my dash telling me to check the parcel shelf or to say that the top is opening or closing?? Do I need a new top button now? or is there a fuse or something I should check?
Does anyone know any good obdII scanners that may allow me to use some of the functionality of the nissan consult 3+ to clear those codes and or do the top relearn sequence?
and most importantly how do we test the hydralic pump?
Don't mind the dirty car it's in project status so getting this top figured out and having it roadworthy is a little more priority to me than the bath it needs.
Based on what I've seen from other members, the best way to troubleshoot top issues is to buy consult 3. OBD scanners will not give you top codes, unfortunately.
Consult 3 is the only solution. I purchased mine from CNauto last year and it's been the best $700 spent on the car. The top can throw lots of codes that just can't be seen on the diag screen on the dash. Purchase a service manual and look at the matrix of different errors. If you think the pump is bad Top Hydraulics can do a rebuild and I have been happy with their service. If you have any particular questions please PM me and I'll be glad to discuss how to fix it yourself if you are the least bit tech savvy.
