HELP!! Convertible not working

So I recently got a g37 convertible and I'm having issues with the top opening or closing. When I press the button for the top to open, the windows go down halfway and stop and the trunk doesn't open up for the top to open. Currently the trunk does lock and unlock (but doesn't open either) but the front part of it is elevated slightly I posted a picture to show that and the front part of it doesn't shut all the way. Anyone else have the same issue?

What happens if you take your windows all the way down before starting the open process?

The back portion behind the rear seats drops down and stops and nothing else happens after that.

I've read that for some people to take the negative cable off the battery for 15 minutes to see if it will reset the system. But, you might want to ask around more to see what others think. Good luck! I hope you find a simple fix!

can you pop the trunk open? lots of times the convertible top do not function properly because car owners throw a bunch of junk in the tiny trunk space and it causes limit switches inside the trunk to detect a fault or it thinks there is something pinching as the convertible top is being operated. if you can pop the trunk open check and see if there is anything binding on the trunk interior covers.

I was able to manually open it and there's nothing there but I did just get this car and had no contact with the seller but it does look like someone was hanging of the back of the trunk and pulled it out so that might be why it's not shutting all the way..

The back part of it latches into the lock but the front part of it doesn't sit all the way down and is slightly lifted

Did you try the operation of the top before purchase of the car? Just trying to figure out when the problem may have started with this issue. Regardless, that has to be frustrating... Feel your pain and realize how babied these tops have to be maintained.

i see the gap on the trunk in the pic but can not tell if thats caused by misalignment of a component or if there is something binding underneath the trunk hinges. that major gap is definitely going to be a cause of concern for convertible top operation due to limit/safety switches not detecting the proper position of the trunk or top. if you don't know what you are doing or what you are looking at you are better off taking it to the dealer and letting team figure it out because the last thing you want is a pivot point or a hinge catching your finger.

Turns out it was a bad hydraulic pump..... So far. Hopefully it's gonna fix the problem because mine was leaking and there's nothing else.
