Transmission

Hi Guys

I got my vert out of storage yesterday after a long winter.

I drove it from Toronto to Montreal today. It ran well except if I hammered the throttle and it kick down to fourth or fifth gear from highway speed the transmission would start to have trouble shift down then up then down. I would have to stop accelerating. Behaviour started after 4000 rpm under aggressive acceleration. Other than that, the car would shift up and down no problem.

It's a 2009 with about 90,000 km which is about 55,000 miles.

I was thinking that I was due for a transmission fluid 3 fill and replace as noted on the forums. Fluid has never been replaced (I purchased in 2016 with low mileage)

Do you guys think this will resolve the issue?

Doesn't hurt. I'd still do it for longevity sake but for a more immediate, and cost effective trouble shoot, pop out the MAF sensors and clean them. Might be some residue that's laid on them while in storage and the AFRs are getting a bit out of whack when you are going WOT. Reset the ECU and see if that clears things up.

Thank you for the advice.

I bought a can of MAP spray cleaner and gave both sensors a good cleaning. Disconnected the battery for 30 minutes to reset the ECU.

Just got back from a test run and it looks like it solved the problem. Still need to give it a good test run on the highway but it looks very promising.

I still plan on doing the transmission fluid replace but now I can do it at my own pace

Thanks again.

Glad to hear. If it still acts funky, a throttle body cleaning may be needed:

You can follow these two videos if you go that route.
