Console lid, that’s a wrap

I have been search this site plus a google search with no luck. Here’s the issue, I just bought a ‘10 G37 convertible and the chrome is flaking off the half moon trim piece on the console lid. I called the local Infiniti dealer parts dept. and they only sell the whole lid. He also said that is a common problem with the G37. Then I checked on eBay and the parts there look worse than mine. So alternate approach time. Has anyone wrapped that little piece? I saw a bunch of photos of the other interior trim pieces but not that one. Got photos of the finished work? Is there another option?

Thanks for the replies.

not sure if that lil piece pops right out or what , I know there's a screw holding it in place, but If I recall, that didn't release it. Mines flaking as well, id like to see some replies to this minor problem.https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...m-removal.html

While I can't speak for the console lid trim piece, I can tell you that the cup holder trim piece is glued on. Mine has fallen off. Maybe the console piece is glued on, too?

The part does come off by removing the screws, taking off the inside lid cover piece and then removing a few more screws. Mine is already out on the desk awaiting a solution- can it be wrapped? Has anyone done it?

I just happened to open my console today and remembered to look. Screws as you noted.

I have the same problem, I was thinking of just peeling of the chrome & leaving it as is, my interior is beige so it doesnt look out of place. My question is how did you pop off the leather lid off the plastic I removed all the screws & tried pulling off but didnt want to pull too hard & break something. I do see some bumps on the inside plastic & I’m guessing there is tabs there where we can just pry off with a flat head? Thanks in advance

Getting the lid apart

Ok that's good to know. I did remove the screws for the plastic base under the leather lid cover. I couldn't get it apart. Do you have to pry it? I found a company in Toronto that will chrome plate the plastic piece. It's not cheap but about 1/3 the price of a new lid and by the sounds of it will never peel again. I will post a pic of how it looks if I can get it apart and sent off!
