Center Console Lid swap

I changed out my snadstone console lid for a black one. Had to buy the whole thing which came with a mounting bracket. I just swaped lids for the quick easy install. $230-ish if I recall, its been 3 months. Not sure if its a huge improvement, but it hids the dirt easier than the sandstone.

I want to do the same thing with mine. I've been looking at the lid and can't figure out how to get it off. Any advice/suggestions as to the easiest (i.e. least likely to break something) way remove the existing one?

I am planning to replace the lid as the current one is messed up. Can I get just the lid or do I need to buy the whole console. $230 seems too much. Was it easy to replace the lid?

Wouldn't going to a shop that does car interiors and put new leather over it be cheaper?

You can buy just the lid from the dealer or you can try eBay. Just open up the armrest and pop off the lid by the hinges and you'll find some screws underneath. If you go the eBay route try to get the armrest from a car as close to yours as possible because even though the armrest look the same on the outside they can be different underneath.

I need to remove/replace my lid due to damage from the previous owner, so to "pop" it off at the hinges like your recommended I just pull up, or outward?

Thanks for the help...
