Vert door 1 my finger 0

Well when you think that will never happen to me, it happened to me.
This was vert door meeting my finger on a full slam.

This happened on the last day of ZDayz after doing some photo shoots and a last spirited run towards Deals gap in the rain.
Since I roll with the go pro, I do have the moment on tape, but will spare you. LOL.

Anyway it was "lucky break" 4th finger tip on the right hand. No surgery, but stitches for the crush finger tip and no loss of the finger nail.

The point is be careful when closing the door and remove your hand in time. Healed up in 3 weeks as the doc said to let it heal on it's own. Still hurts with pressure but just a nice scare if left.

PS. The ER was only 1 hr away drive. 30 minutes to the cabin by myself and 30 riding shotgun.

My last car was a 2009 M35 and I had gotten used to the little lightweight doors compared to the car before that... a 2006 G35. So about 18 months ago in a hurry to run into the store I started the door shut with my left hand and realizing I'd left something I needed inside I tried to stop it. Unfortunately stopping my 2011 G37 vert door is like halting a freight train compared to my M and before I sensed I could not... it got me too (ring finger). I lost the tip and surgery cost me a little more. Luckily I had a great doctor and it looks normal, nail and all, just a little shorter. Really isn't noticeable unless I hold it up with the right hand. In my 57 years I've not so much as broke a bone so I guess I was due. Dumb but part of the learning curve...these doors will bite.

North Carolina. The next best thing is blood mountain and wolf pen gap. Www.zdayz.com for more info.
