2010 vs. 2011 G37 convertible?
2010 vs. 2011 G37 convertible?
Hi all,
I've decided to buy a G37 convertible and am deciding between a 2010 vs. 2011. Besides the obvious price difference, are there any noteworthy differences in features between the two years I should take into consideration?

This is what I found. I have a 2010 sport. In 2010, the sport and base models had different front bumpers. It's mostly cosmetic with some old colors dropped, replaced with new colors.
2009-2010 sport:
2009-2010 base:
in 2011, the base started using a similar design to the 09-10 sport bumper, but with the fog lights now embedded in the bottom corners of the bumper instead of next to the headlights:
The 2011 Sport uses a pointier front bumper that looks easy to impale on a parking block
It seems there were more changes from 2009-2010, found this on another forum:
2009 and now a 2010 G37 Convertible.
The differences we noticed so far:
1. New HDD navigation system with vastly improved bluetooth phone integration (you can use voice to dial people from your handset phonebook for example), better routing, more accurate XM traffic
2. USB support for iPOD but NO integrated support now for anything else. We had a Microsoft Zune in our 2009 but the connection for that is gone in the 2010. It also displays album art. You can now use the USB to charge your iPOD and you can play music from a thumbdrive.
3. The hard drive is smaller but lets face it, the music box was never really useful when you can plug in an MP3 player
4. The stereo sound better (not really sure if they changed it or not)
5. Sonar is now included in addition to the camera
6. You can view pictures on the camera (it says images but we have not tried a movie)
7. You loose the air filteration system standard on the 2009 but need the technology package to get it
8. Believe it or not, an upgrade interior already around the console, new cup holders.
9. Lots of options under settings now

The Nav weather requires a special subscription level. I think it's $10 a month just for the weather. My phone tells it to me for free, so I didn't bother with the XM Weather. They need to bring their prices in line with reality! I pay $4 a month for a regular subscription and that's as much as it's worth to me.
For the bluetooth, has anybody noticed a difference in sound quality while using handsfree speaking? That's a really important feature for me. I made a test call on a '10 while driving with the top down and the person I called said the sound quality was pretty bad.
For the sonar, are you talking about the rear bumper sensors? The '10 I test drove had it. Frustrating that front bumper sensors arent included...

Sorry for the confusion, 1-9 are actually differences between 2009 and 2010. There are only cosmetic differences and I believe the seatbelts are different between 2010 and 2011. If you get the TSB (like I did) the dealer installs the up to date seatbelts on the 2009/2010.
For the nav, are you saying the quality/resolution of the screen was significantly improved from '10 to '11?
