Hey guys - wierd question. I have a 2010 GS convertible.

I came out of my house today and noticed that I have a dent on the front bumper - low, below the grill opening. Now, I think I would know if I hit a curb or parking bump hard enough to do this - and don't think I did, so I'm trying to figure out where it could have happened.

The wierd part (maybe) is that there appears to be a strip of plastic tape (almost like duct tape?) running along the bottom of the front bumper. It's close to the color of the car, and happens to be over that dent. Was that tape always there? Do you have one too?

Knowing whether someone put that tape there or not won't necessarily tell me what happened, but I just don't remember seeing this before.

You may have got something in the road kicked up from another vehicle? Any paint chip? Or maybe someone backed into you one day and did not leave a note.

 

Withe regards to your tape question... I think I remember there being some sort of tape as well however, I had to get my front bumper replaced (Stupid people backed up into me) so its no longer there but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing it there when I removed it and thought "this is weird... maybe it's used to protect or the dealership forgot to remove it"

It's just like a piece of clear bra ( or w/e you want to call it) that protects the bottom of the front bumper, If it's messed up and peeling off you can just take it off completely.

 

Thanks guys. Sorry for the late check-in. The "tape" on my 2010 is almost the color of duct tape - sort of matches the grey/silver color of the car. Definitely not clear.

Oh well, bumper is dented and I will get it fixed.
