They should have just called it a Nismo G and saved us the hope and speculation.

People who buy a Nismo Z are gearheads paying for the name. People who buy a IPL G are scared of aftermarket parts.

Not worth the big hype to the tune (pun) of AMG/M/S. Infiniti should not have let that type of speculation be published.

And finally, the big reveal at Pebble Beach??? Hey, look world, with all of the R&D that Nissan/Infiniti has, we put on a body kit, wheels, and an exaust!!! 10 additional whp!!!! golf claps ensue

I got my hopes really high, and then...

Yuck

Dammit Infiniti, this is such a FAIL!!!! What happened to all the talk of PERFORMANCE (i.e. turbochargers, superchargers, etc.) in IPL?? All I see is a G37 4X4 (wheel gap is horrendous) with an IS-F-esque body kit. A smaller displacement turbo motor should've been at the top of the list! Listen up Infiniti! ---> GO HARD OR GO HOME.

def a fail. and i wonder the price of the ipl package. im sure for the price you spend on the package, you can get more hp and nicer wheels aftermarket.

IPL is equivalent to Audi's S-Line at this stage. At least in the Infiniti you get 18hp more, in the Audi you get the same engine. It appears people got their hopes up too high, since the G Coupe is the 1st to get this, it seems to me Infiniti is not even trying to shoot for high sales numbers, coupes traditionally sell far less than the sedans and the take rate will be even lower for the IPL in the coupe segment (maybe 5%). Its a good start for strengtening the brand and for the customer its a great way to get something different.

Massively disappointing.

They took my G and gave it a set of performance brake pads, body kit (with questionable styling), cat back exhaust, stiffer springs, and an ECU tune. That's exactly what I've already done to my '08, and probably done it better for less than the premium Infiniti will charge. If this is more than a couple grand more than a regular G Coupe with Sport and Premium, I'm inclined to say it's mostly just a marketing gimmick. I expected more from Infiniti.

No larger wheels, wider tires FTL.
No new engine, or engine tweaks for real power gains FTL.
Amazingly enormous Nissan wheel gap retained FTL.
No radical body restyling FTL.
CEL, brake, and tire pressure indicator lights in your marketing photos FTL.

Major disappointment. 18 HP? Seriously? Why even differentiate this 'IPL' car when it's mostly appearance changes and very little else?

And the brake upgrade is most definitely a different friction material on the pads, as someone already suggested.

Infiniti should be ashamed of even putting an IPL designation on this car.

Yeah, but the S-Line is mostly a handling package (and minor trim stuff) to give the "A" cars some of the handling prowess of the "S" cars. Take an A5 compared to an S5 for example. The S5 has a MUCH more powerful engine along with a host of other performance upgrades. The S-Line package on the A5 is really just intended to help bridge the gap between the A5 and the S5, specifically for people who don't care as much about the HP deficit. I wouldn't say the IPL is really anything like Audi's S-Line.

I wonder if the non-IPL G37 coupe retains the same wheels and body as the 2010 G37 coupe? Does anyone know?

Don't forget, with audi S lines and the " iS " line from bmw, they have superchargers and turbochargers. Those cars have more potential if you chip them. We stuck w/ a N/A VQ engine.

Idk, whose to say it doesn't actually make 348hp at the wheels?
haha but seriously. Ill wait until all the dust settles and Infiniti gets a better foothold in the market. This is the first IPL car. Im optimistic that it will get better from here.
Also, if you guys are expecting IPL to compete with the likes of M and AMG, you better stop b!tching about increased price and premium... The E92 M-Sport package costs at least 3k.. and take a look at all the BMW Performance parts that cost absurd amounts

I believe s/chargers and turbos are in the works too. This was reported when this story first came out.

I was hoping at least 400hp 320tq supercharged and room to chip the ecu. This is not what I expected at all.

Someone said this at Inside Line, I agree with him 100%, except for I do not think this 348hp engine will survive for 2013, the Nismo 350HP VQ is not achieving anything great when compared to the rest of the VQs

"this is the first IPL model of a range of IPL vehicles in the future.." almost like they're testing the waters, an 18 hp boost? what about that blog IL had about nissan copyrighting the name "IPL" and listing upgrades such as "turbo/superchargers"? Sounds like this is something to hold everyone over while they aim to build a vehicle worthy of taking on the Ms and AMGs, such as the 2013 G. it doesn't seem to make sense to put alot of effort into the current G being as it's going out when 2013 rolls around with an all new model which i'm gonna assume will have this modestly "tuned" 348 hp VQ engine standard - then they'll build an IPL vehicle on that.... twin turbo perhaps?

Yes I also think the "real" IPL G we want aka m3 amg competitor will roll out with 2013 model refresh. It wouldn't make much sense to create the m3 competitor on a G base model now that is on it's way out.

Aside from that did I read the info correctly that red is the ONLY available interior color or just an option for malbec?
