If the g37 were to compete with the m3, they would have to do a LOT of work, including countless hours of on-track testing to get it anywhere near the m3. Then we would need to have it high-revving for that fun factor. I doubt anything like this will come about anytime soon...
the statement was "give it a CF roof, so it could be the first production car to do that"

I was just debunking that with saying that goes to the ZR-1. the ZR-1 costs between $103,000-$117,000 depending on options, a neighbor of mine has one.

The ZR-1 and Z06 have nothing to do with one another. The ZR-1 has a 6.2L Supercharged engine, producing 638hp, vs the Z06's naturally aspirated 7.0L engine producing 505hp. Most of the ZR-1's body panels are carbon fibre, vs the Z06's fibre glass.

The ZR-1's brake setup is 15" carbon discs with 6 piston calipers, again not found on the Z06. Not to mention the oogles of suspension differences between the two. I'd say the only thing the cars have in common is their name Corvette.

Why a V8

It would be nice to have a V8 but the price would go up drastically like the IS-F and the demand may go down because of the fuel situation. I mean how many 60k V8 Gs can be sold? Besides, who needs a V8? I think a 380-400hp version of the GTR engine is doable. Either with FI or displacement increase. Maybe eliminate the “clean room” engine assembly to increase production and decrease cost. The G and GTR are built in the same factory anyway. Price it in the low to mid 40s for the base and top out at 50k for a fully loaded version…..

^I dont think Infiniti would ever try and compete with the m3, too much R and D and especially with the way the economy and auto industry is doing.

Nissan did the GTR and thats their supercar.

Infiniti will always make steady midrange luxury cars IMO.

Although I would love to see a 400 hp G40, that runs a 12 1/4mile.

I think the M3 is just that, a steady mid range luxury/touring car, just like the G. But for the G to compete with the M3, it would need beefed up.

Performance wise, M3 all the way. Luxury wise, Infiniti FTW! A friend of mine owns an M3 2009 6MT model and we did exchange cars for some time, let me tell u this, driving the M3 was orgasmic! Handling was superb, power was enough to make u feel like u r in a damn sports car and it sounds nice (even though it sounds like a mad cat on high RPMs lol) + she is on the same scale of sexiness as Vida Guerra! But everytime i take a look at the interior it would turn me off immediately.

On the other hand, my friend praised the G for how smooth and quiet it is even though I have a Borla CatBack installed and was impressed in the interior and the variety of options (at least the G has 2 cup holders in front and 2 in the back while the M3 has non lol) but when it came to power he gave me the "not bad" look and named it "Supped Up Angry Civic" LOL
