CTS : Amazing jaw dropping looks inside and out, seats not very supportive, DI engine not very impressive. American car = poor reliability.

335i : Amazing torque, response, power, handling was ok. Ugly as hell inside, seats hurt my back, sound system crap. German car = heard bad reliability also esepically with electronics

C350 : Looks nice exterior, interior looks cheap/ feels cheap, handling and power was not impressive. Everything was OK with this car.

GS350 : Very comfortable, can drive for years, sound system was a blast. Was not very fun to drive and looked boring.

STI : Fun as hell to drive, im mean come on it keeps up with lambos. Not a good daily driving car, ricey/immature, not luxurious at all.

I put deposit for CTS, driving back home passing all the dealers. Never considered infiniti or cared for it. Friend said lets go test drive a coupe for fun. I said alright I got some time to kill. Dealer pulled G37 Journey up.

1st...sounded amazing, by far best exhaust.
2nd... looked very luxurious and fun
3rd...was a coupe...parents hate coupe due to hassle in sliding the seats back and forth....magic 1 touch button to slide the seats (parents problem solved )
4th... the positioning of the seat was very cool and comfortable. By far the most supportive and comfortable seats.
5th... FELT AWESOME...steering wheel, gas pedal, brakes, everything just melted on me. So predictable, so repsonsive, so much power, and yet so comfortable and luxurious at the same time... was the almost the perfect car for me.
Sound system...what happened to studio on wheels?
No true fog lights...
Small trunk...
Gas mileage....

So those got me through waiting for 09 verison and constant lecture on how much better of I will be when I have 60k sitting in my bank after college than 20k.

Long post I know I got bored
Nice post! very detailed.

Agreed. I was looking at a similar field of competitors: CTS, IS350, 335i & A5. Tested all but the A5... and while I think it's sick looking, the A5 is too under-powered for such a premium price. I also couldn't bring myself to seriously consider any of these German companies given the fiendish roles they played back during WWII... but thats another issue.

When you take into consideration performance, looks, comfort, reliability and value.... Infiniti pwns all. Meanwhile, anyone like the idea of a personalized plate with something like BMWTEVR, or better yet, BMDBLPU?

Imagine riding in front of a bimmer with those plates hehe, it would be pretty immature I guess, but... I don't know... BMDBLPU is kind of growing on me

BMW's are very nice but I agree that they are butt-ugly on the inside. It's like a 1980 station wagon died inside it.

With this G37 sedan news, it looks like we holdouts just took one step closer toward a pay-off with the 09 coupe

While it's not an official public announcement, I just found out by my salesman that Infiniti confirmed a 7AT for the '09 coupe to his GM at a dealer meeting late last week - and asked if I wanted to placed my order!

I doubt he would solicit an order for something on speculation will find out more later when they open...

Latest: Aside from 7AT, additional features have not been confirmed yet.... but he said they can start taking orders for the '09 coupe in July (ugh, which means Sept-Oct. delivery ) He also confirmed an '09 AWD coupe which is slated for delivery around December. Not sure why the AWD would have a different production timeline.... regardless, 7AT FTW!

Now that 7AT is looking more like a Reality for '09, anyone got numbers on 0-60 and 1/4 times? Also does this mean the car will get around 20/29 MPG compared to the old 18/24?!

That's a good guess if it is the 7AT. 19/26 sounds about right. I'd bet money that it's not any higher than 19/26.

I Saw an article that a 7 Speed Transmission will offer 14% fuel savings. That would be about 20.5/27.4
