Can I still get in?

Do I understand correctly: I have a 2005, are these the instructions:
http://boostedconcepts.forumup.org/a...dconcepts.html

I thought it went under the hood, is this a "new" better place to put it?

Yes...you can still get in.

As for installation...you can certainly use the hood pin inside the hood but the heat of the engine bay may shorten the life span of the sensor...so....we decided to install them inside the dash.

Now...there...you can get to the door and trunk pin. Some models (03s) drew a lot of current through the door pin which would burn the sensor out real quickly. So....we did the instructions on how to install it using the trunk pin. That is whats on the link you provided and will work just fine. But since you have an 05, technically you can install it on either the hood, door or trunk pin wires.

Good luck and feel free to PM SFLG35 with any other questions.

Thanks

Jason

Sure you can still get in...just follow the paypal instructions.

With an 04...its your choice on whether to install it on any of the pin switches. Our DIY was done on the trunk pin. Like I said, it was the 03s that drew too much current through the door (probably b/c of the dome light). Choice is yours though...

Just received. Thanks. I cant believe its a GM part. It appears that the general has found a way to still get my business. I can see why one cant use it underhood. The unit is not sealed at all at the connector or the adjustment screw.

I received my shock sensor yesterday so I went by Radio Shack this afternoon to get the two diodes that are required. They don't have any IN4003 diodes, they do have 1N4003 diodes. Are these an accpetable substitute?

Thanks Dan. What confused me was that I did a search and there are IN4003/IN4004 diodes produced, it's just that RS doesn't carry them.

..

yes, the shock sensor-is it a dei 504m or 504d and is there a difference between the two? and do i use 1N4003 micro 1 amp diode or the 1N4004 which is a micro 1 amp rectifier diode? saw the difference at radioshack.com, and they are out of the 04's, but the stores may not. the 04 have some reverse technology...finally, is the warranty void if i cut these wires to install?
