Potential new owner/member from Tampa saying hi.

I just wanted to drop in and say hey. I have been reading the boards the past few days since I have recently gotten the new car itch. I keep coming back to the G35 and I haven't even driven it yet . I am leaning towards the auto sport sedan since I have never really been a coupe person and I am tired of driving stick.

I figure I will try to go for a test drive this weekend. Any other suggestions for cars I should definitely test drive as a comparison? I figure I will at least go look at the IS and the TL. Also before I go and look at the G35 is there anything you wish you had known before you bought the car?

Oh one last thing I noticed earlier about the VPP C pricing with premier membership and I just wanted to verify this is still active.

Good luck on finding a new car... I'd test drive a G35 Coupe, too... unless you need the extra room for something...

If you're not in a hurry to get a new car, you might want to wait a few months until the G37 comes out.

By all means test all of them. You will quickly realize what nice driving rocket ship the '07 sedan is (not that I'm biased or anything....)

I've driven a TL and they are nice cars, worth the test drive. Check out the 07 G35 and if it's not out of your price range I'd test drive a BMW 335i as well.

I disagree. Unless you want a true RWD sport sedan/car, I'd pick a TL, especially a TL-S over the G35 any day. It has more features, better fit and finish, and excellent resale. However, modding it (if you plan to) is a tad pointless, and quite expensive. I know--I had them and so did afitch.

I'd check the IS350 as well as it's better than either, though a bit smaller and costs more money for sure. BWW and Audi are also in the slot, but you'd need to go with the pricey BMW 335i or the Audi S4 to match the performance, though they are nowhere near as reliable as the Jcars...

Yeah I am definitely going to test drive the TL and the TL-S. I have always had a FWD so going RWD is tempting though friends in the past have told me it is very easy to tell I have always driven FWD. I always tell myself I am going to do some mods but I never do since I have yet to find a car I love enough to keep.

I have a Jetta now so I will probably skip the Audi. I never felt they were worth the extra cost over the VW. I also found in the past I didn't fit well in the Audi do to the shape of the center console. I may try the BMW but I definitely don't want to go any more expensive. I definitely can't go about 40k OTD. I have yet to keep a car past the warranty period.

The main three I am leaning towards are the G35, TL, and the IS a distant third.

The IS350 I looked at was $44k before t/t/t...

If you are gonna ditch it early and not mod it, the TL-S can't be beat for price, options, quality and resale.

I kinda missed what you were saying about "fit" with the console. I'm gonna guess you are saying your body is "wide" and you "fit" awkwardly. I am pretty wide, and I am about as snug as I can get in the seats of the G. I have no issues in the Acura...

Don't get me wrong: I love my G and think it a great car, but it's not for everyone...
