Hi everyone,

Apologies if this has already been addressed, but has there been an update from Infiniti or Nissan regarding exactly when they started using the new, non failure prone gallery gaskets? It seems from my research the change occurred some time in 2012, but no one seems sure when precisely, though most of the posts I could find addressing this are at least several years old. According to the door jamb my car was manufactured in April of 2012, would very much like to know if I'm in the clear, or if it's known.

There is no definitive, concrete date when Nissan revised the gaskets. The general consensus is that "sometime" in 2012, however, this appears based on the number of reported cars affected.

Your car being a early/mid-2012 build you "could" be in the clear. What is more important, and is impossible to find out, is when your engine was built. Your 2012 car could have a 2010 or 2011 engine. No way of knowing.

Drive and maintain your car responsibly and don't worry too much about a "what-if" scenario. Cross each bridge when you get to it. Besides, not every engine was affected by this issue.

 

My understanding is all years are affected. Sometime in 2012 Nissan upgraded the gasket however they did not use locktite on the screws and they back out over time.

 

Newer gaskets are metal made however it's not the sure give-away of non failure.

I replaced mines with newer ones and 30k miles later i'm back to a gasket or VTC issue.

Though newer engines have a higher chance at a intact gasket, dont put all your money into that bet.
