Clutch Slave cylinder keeps breaking

Hi guys,

i recently installed a stage 3 clutch on my 08 g37 but the slave cylinder has now broken 3 times since then.

Could the slave be breaking due to a difference in clutch stack height?

has anyone dealt with this before?

OEM slave cylinders are pure trash. I highly suggest getting Z speed HD slave cylinder or the Cmack slave kit

Your new setup probably requires alot more pressure on the fins to disengage the clutch. I dont think the height is off ,just more pressure inside the csc to fully extend it and due to it being made of plastic is just not holding up

I got the heavy duty one from z1. Did the same thing.

im convinced its the stack height being shorter and the slave over extending.

im going to take some measurements today.

Basically the distance from block to clutch fingers should equal distance from mating surface of bell housing to surface of slave fully compressed.

So after measuring the clutch stack height, it is spot on, that is not the issue.

Now I am just starting to think the stage 3 clutch is just too stiff to disengage. The slave cylinder is not meant to press on such a stiff pressure plate.

I ordered a stock pressure plate and disc along with a replacement slave cylinder. I make close to stock power so I should be ok. Only reason I went to stage 3 was because I thought it would be good for the amount of hooning i do on the weekends lol. Burnouts, donuts, light drifting.

Z1 really pushes to sell their CSC elimination kit with their clutch and flywheels. Probably for good reason, particularly if you went with their most LW flywheel and stage 3 clutch. Have you asked Z1 about this?

You DD that setup?

So I found the issue. The stage 3 clutch was just too stiff for the slave cylinder to push.

I downgraded to a oem spec clutch and the slave cylinder hasnt broke since then.

I could have also went with the csc delete kit as suggested by z1 but it was cheaper for me to downgrade clutch instead of buying the delete kit. I dont make that much more power than stock so the oem spec clutch will do.

so far so good.
