Remove the engine to go Forced Induction?

Thinking about a Forced Induction build - I'm seeing the AAM twin-turbo kit requires you to remove the engine & I think this is a show-stopper for me as a DIY project. Wondering if the Stillen Supercharger requires you to remove the engine too?

If pulling the engine is not DIY then installing forced induction is likely not for you.

RE: pulling the engine - requires a bit more research on my end to understand what special tools / equipment / space I might need. If I had to pull, I'd likely just grab a new engine, build that, then pull/swap. Definitely don't have the space & equipment to live that dream...

Search on here more and the370z.com. This has been discussed before.

To do it right, expect to spend $10k-15k minimum, depending on labor costs. I've got 3 different spreadsheets I've built out over the years detailing a single turbo install, TT install, and A2A supercharger install. Pricing ranges from about $13k to $20k.

You will also need to be mindful of the amount of power you will be making. The stock motor is strong but can only handle a certain amount. I've seen plenty of stock block VQs pushing 600 whp with no issues. I wouldn't push it much more than 500-550 whp, just my opinion. Torque is a big factor to consider too especially if you are automatic and not 6MT. The auto's can't handle too much and most boosted auto VQs I see have tunes limiting them to around 400 wtq. Anything more than that it would have to be built by someone like Level 10. If you are 6MT then you will need a stronger clutch as wheel to handle the power.

Doc Racing has a top mount single turbo for the Z that would probably be compatible with our car. Worth checking out.

Read again what I said. If pulling the engine is not DIY for someone then adding a turbo is not something that person should take on. Pulling an engine is easy compared to what might go into a turbo install. If pulling an engine is thought to be too hard then what makes you think installing a turbo is easier?
