Hi everyone I am new to this G37 forum and I wanted to hop on here and ask everyone’s opinion on what’s going on with my G37. So I took my car to AutoZone and they plugged it in and the code above came up. I cleaned my MAF sensor’s and I also did a idle relearn. My Service engine soon light is still on. Should I just get new MAF sensor’s and what brand should I go with? I have stillen intakes if that matters with what sensors I should get. Also my g has 80k miles on it

P0172 indicates a problem with the right bank (passenger side) fuel ratio being too rich:

There can be a few causes to this problem- not just the MAF sensor. If you are able, I would download the FSM for your car (Section EC in this case) and look over the reset procedures to see if a simple reset might help. There are about 5 pages for this code- too many for me to post here.

I would not just start throwing parts at it until you know for some certainty what is causing the code.

 

What does with consult and gst mean? Is that the code reader you have to plug in?

 

Yup. It's the diagnostic software. If you end up needing new MAF sensors I personally would only go OEM.

CONSULT-3 is Nissan/Infiniti's official scan tool and software. GST is Generic Scan tool.

Without CONSULT you will be limited in troubleshooting options. Mainly check the components, harnesses, etc.

You could also try swapping out the MAF's (right to left) and see if code P0175 pops up (same issue, bank 2).

So I don’t have a GST but I messed with it earlier and it’s definitely not an exhaust leak because I don’t hear any rattling or anything. Should I just buy a new OEM MAF sensor that is $20 before I just take it to infiniti so they can use their consult?

 

Check vacuum lines for cracks or being loose

 

I had the same issue. Did every thing that was suggested here more or less. Initially got a CEL but car ran normally. Cleaned air filters (which needed it anyway) swapped airflow sensors at the same time and did a idle learn. No fix. Gradually over a 100-200 miles of driving the idle started to get unstable, going as high as 1200 in neutral. Checked for leaks, vacuum and exhaust, no issues noted. Replaced the right upstream O2 sensor and it seems to have fixed it, it runs better than it has in a while and the idle is back to normal. I'm not sure why Nissan calls it an A/F sensor since every other car it's called an O2 or lambda, I understand the acronym is closer to the true use of it though, but it confused me initially.
