VLSD 3.692 swap into a 2012 G37XS SEDAN open diff
VLSD 3.692 swap into a 2012 G37XS SEDAN open diff
To begin with I already swapped front and rear 3.692 carriers into my 2012 G37xS sedan with awesome results. Transformed the car literally. My next goal is to swap a VLSD in the rear to replace the open diff.
Technically speaking, I’m asking if it’s possible to take a 2008 G37S 3.692 5at rear diff, swap the 3.357 7at flange onto it to make it fully functional?
Is there any obstacle on swapping a 37xS 6bolt flange onto the 2008 37S pinion shaft?

yes. its possible. There are several threads on here detailing the process and possible issues with the pinion shaft. Depending on whether the doner pumkin is an auto or manual and the year of the doner it may require cutting the pinion which is pretty straight forward (just get an angle grinder)
You may also have to make sure the stub flanges match your car (but this is not as big of an issue as you can just get aftermarket fasteners or OEM ones from the dealership meant for a 370z).
The biggest issue in doing the conversion is properly measuring the breakaway torque on the pinion flange nut and resetting it so that the crush sleeve has the proper tension on it when you put the new flange on it.

Interesting a thread of diffs comes up. I've been trying to search for the terminologies used when talking about these in addition to the diffs themselves, I guess the mobile application isn't that great.
Can someone explain what the difference is between these 2 diffs and how do I know which fits my application? I have a 13 xS

The right picture shows the OE model from a G37 AWD model, identifiable from the input flange type.
The left picture shows the 3 bolt pattern from the 3.692 RWD diffe carrier available on different 350z, g35s and 2008 G37S RWD.
Id recommend strongly to deal with a professional shop who will be competent enough to proceed to the flange swap. Its not just a bolt out/bolt in operation. Measuremewnts and cutting of the pinion shaft to the proper lenght needs to be performed. Then crush washer preload/tightening to specified torque needs to be done also.

Dont forget that if you change the rear, you also need to change the frontratio to match the rear as well. I wont explain all the operation but it involves to remove the whole engine cradle to change the front diff carrier. Quite a job, I must say.

Been looking into doing the swap for my 2015 AWD q40. Where did you source the front diff and rear diff for the swap? Looking for some help I know the awd g35 last year had the 3.6 front and rear hoping that's where you sourced from so I know I can go that route.
