2008 g37s ecu swap with 2009 g37s ecu

2008 g37s ecu swap with 2009 g37s ecu

I drive an 08 g37s and i brought it to a shop in nc to get my car tuned with ecutek i wasn’t aware until i got there that you can’t use ecutek on an 08 ecu because it’s too small but you can on an 09 g37s ecu. My question is how hard is it to swap an 09 ecu into an 08 g37s and what will i need to do to get to work correctly?
Thank first post in the forums of any other info is needed plz tell me

Confused


It says 2008 g37 coupe which is what i have i thought that it was for 2009 and above highly confused

If you're talking about automatics, the 2008 had a 5AT, whereas the 2009+ had the 7AT. Maybe that's the catch?

I really have no idea, but thought it might be relevant.

Yeah so 07-08 G35 is 5AT 2009 + G37 is 7AT
Does this mean ecutek wont work on my 5AT?
I'm gonna get test pipes soon & get tuned, in the next few months.
Should i just consider the uprev tune instead?

OP, I have no idea. I was thinking aloud what makes the 2008 G37 Coupe different from 2009+

FWIW, the 2008 AT Coupe also had shorter rear gears than the 2009+.

If u go on infiniti e-store site, the 08 and 09 6mt coupes use different ecms. I doubt u can use a newer ecm. I have an 08, when the dealer had to get me a new ecm they couldn't bc the part is no longer available. And they didn't say anything about using a newer model ecm. The 08s are jus special lol. There even new blank ecms from the dealer but the 08 can't use them lol.

Yeah I believe the difference was the flash memory on the '08 has 1MB and '09 has 1.5MB.

I know this is an old post but I have some very useful information to add to it. Eugene at Enthusiast Auto Can perform the services to swap an '08 ECU to an '09 one. It's actually a lot less than I was expecting. I hit him up on Instagram and he was very quick to respond. Contact him if you guys need this done. I'm seriously considering it for the future when I upgrade my intakes.
