ECU plug n play

Does anyone know if the ECU can be swapped for a like model of a different year? Or are the ECUs exclusive to that particular model?

I.e.- I have an 08 G37S coupe 6mt, could I theoretically swap it with an ECU from a 2010 or 2009 G37S coupe 6mt?

I am unsure. There was a thread about trying to throw a different model year ECU into a 2008 so that they could use ECUTEK on it. It seems they ran into problems that were never elaborated on. Don't know if the problems were caused by the different ECU or if something else was causing issues.

Yeah, I saw that too. I think it was an ECU for a different model. I'm hoping that if I get a 2010 exact copy, it'll work fine...

I hope you are right for your sake. However, I doubt they used a different model car ECU. I would imagine having a larger memory size that the memory addresses of signals that comes into the ECU is different between say a 2008 and 2009 and would cause issues. I do wish you luck though! Let us know how it turns out.

pin out on the ECU might be different I looked online but couldn't find anything about pins out.plus I know the 370z ecu's have a security key coded to the car so that also might be a issue

I hope so too. I work with a guy who's certified master Nissan technician, I'll have to hit him up. But you're absolutely right. 2008 only has 1GB of storage, whereas 2009 and up has 1.5GB or greater (don't quote me on specific numbers, BUT this is what ecutek told me).

I've been looking for wiring schematics of the ECU to trace out pins/voltages/signals, but no luck so far. I want to work it out on paper first, but if that isn't gonna happen then...o well then

Yeah, I was talking to ttv36 about that...it's something to be reprogrammed at the dealership, assuming it'll work after the swap in the first place...I forgot what it stands dor, UT it's the headache NATS or something like that (anyone actually know the terminology?)
