ECU Swap (2008)?

After seeing some of the features of the racerom release in ECUTek, I was sold. Doing some research, I came across a thread on the 370z.com where Visconti mentions in passing that it will not work on 08 g37s with out a lot of detail as to why. I contacted SpecialtyZ and got a very quick reply. Sebastian over there mentioned that 08 G37s use ECUs similar to the 350z that uses a smaller file size.

I understanding putting a different ECU into the car would require at least a flash from the dealer to make the key to work but am not sure if a different year ecu would work. Are there any Infiniti/Nissan technicians (or anyone with knowledge on something like this) that know if putting a 09/10 ecu into an 08 would work otherwise? I saw a few on ebay - I couldn't tell a difference from physical appearance.

If a newer ecu (with larger file size) would work, then perhaps there is still hope for me in getting these racerom ecutek features!

I had this question, but just went with UpRev instead of waiting around for a solution. If a solution wasn't figured out right away, then either:
1) It's not a simple solution.
and/or
2) The market is to small for them to prioritize a solution for this, so it will probably always be a low priority, so the wait could be forever.

I know this is an old thread, however I just want to let folks know this can be done - i.e. SWAP an 09 ECU into an 08 to take advantage of RaceRom and Ecutek.

I believe I have the first ever 5AT working with this SWAT, a few folks have done it with 6MT before me.

Reach out if you would like details, it is a world of difference!

I'd like to know this as well.

I have a 2008 G37s. Did you just find another car with the exact set up? Or did you just find another car with same functions?

Like manual, cruise control, etc.

I'd like to pick your brain about this.

I have an '08 that had some issues and the dealership ended up replacing the ECU. I will give them a call and see if they can dig up part numbers to see if they happened to put a newer ECU in my car. If they did, then we'll finally have an answer. Standby...
