If you have the timing cover gasket leak, you will have low oil pressure, which in turn can lead to a spun bearing causing the knock. Search timing cover gasket leak. Its internal so just because you dont see a oil leak, doesnt mean you dont have the issue....

This issue usually throws a low oil pressure code and puts the engine in limp mode.
