I wonder if there's any benefit to doing these recalibrations even if no TB work has been done?

Per repair the fsm will tell you whether or not a recaliberation or resetting needs to be done.

I know it's more work but first cleaning I usually pull the throttle body off to clean both sides thoroughly and replace gaskets
