Very hard shift 11' X sedan

I drove up to Massachusetts yesterday from Pennsylvania for work and about 200 miles into the trip I arrived at a slowdown for a traffic merge. As I was merging I got on the throttle to make a gap for me to merge into the next lane. As I did this the car shifted the hardest I've ever felt it while owning the car. An audible bang similar to as if I rev'd the car up in neutral and put it into drive. The car drove fine the rest of the way there and back. Only 28,000 on the odometer. My dealership informed me the car was up to date on the trans software so what the hell was that about? Anyone else have a similar moment like that?

Sounds normal, were you in DS mode or downshifted in accident? These 7 speed auto have hard shifts at times I even have all the updates and still experience them

No, this was just regular drive mode. Car slowing down by itself as I coasted and gave it gas and that was the result. I've had similar experiences with it but that was by far the worst and scares me to think if its capable of damaging itself mechanically. Not that I know that for a fact but the noise was enough to keep me up at night.

I used to get that from time to time too. I put in a DIY grounding kit and in the 3yrs or so iv'e had it it's only done it once.

I have gotten that bang. Literally felt like someone wraped a chain around my rear axle and pulled um the car (RWD). Happenes between 2nd and 3rd gear. Best way to make is always happen in to be going slow on a slight incline and let off the gass then slightly go back on it. You can feel it downshift moderately hard when just letting it coast down from about 20 mph.

I hate 2nd gear in the 7at.

I've used this technique to help alleviate the issue, you kind of have to feather the throttle. It's almost like letting the car drive us . I want to get the car tuned to see if this would fix it but to really make it worth it I would like to get some high flow cats but all of a sudden your total expense is like $1500.

I'm tempted to try the grounding kits but there are so many mixed reviews it makes me hesitate. Also the fact that there is no real way to confirm whether it actually helps or not.

True a nice cold air intake, full catback exhaust and hfc and ECU TEK should solve the issue

If you listen to music loud it's worth it. I didn't notice a huge difference in shifting but to me it's worth it especially if you diy just to know you tried to fix it and worst case your audio quality got better. (Atleast for me)
