I think it may:
A failed CSC may not fully release the clutch allowing a little bit of (undetectable) drag between the flywheel, friction disk and pressure plate. If this goes on for a while, this can glaze the friction disk and increase clutch slippage, which quickly overheats the clutch and greatly reduces clutch life.

Thoughts?

Sounds to me like an improperly adjusted clutch pedal. Adjusted too high perhaps.

I guess it's more fun here to criticize someone's perceived driving habits than actually helping.

The smell of a slipping/burning clutch is quite distinct.
Those that ignore that smell have a replacement clutch in their near future

Do you happen to have any oil leaks anywhere?

I have seen, not on a VQ but similar motor, with a bad rear main that leaked and got on the clutch disc and caused a similar problem.
The reason for the failure was a very stiff clutch caused crank end play and caused the seal to leak.

Just an idea.
