Matic S Alternative

Going to replace the ATF in my g37. Was originally going to do AMSOIL but i seen some members run valveoline maxlife atf as well.

Any other suggestions?

I like how the valeoline is almost half the price as the amsoil

Why not use what Nissan specifies (Matic S)?

I looked around when replacing my ATF and the only over the counter ATF that had the Matic S compatibility on the label (that I found) was the Valvoline. It's performed well so far

I used Valvoline Atf on my g35, and i never had any tranny issues. I think im going to do the same for my g37.

If you do it as per Davisons DIY I'd get 4 gallons

For a savings of $20 or so every 80,000 miles...I'll stick with Matic S. ATF is the only fluid if find cars to be picky about.

I'm sure nissan doesn't make their own ATF tho.

They don't make the transmission, either. Jatco does, and Jatco specifies the properties of the fluid.

Unless you're absolutely certain Valvoline and Amsoil meet their specs, I'd stick with Matic S.

What is the advantage of not using Matic S?

Like I mentioned previously, I looked around quite a bit and the Max Life was the only one I found that listed Matic S on their recommended application chart. I seriously doubt they would put it out there if it didn't meet spec, especially in this litigious society
