lightweight flywheel chatter. fix??!??

I just installed new clutch and light weight flywheel. Is there any way to fix or quiet the annoying chatter you get when ideling. But when you push clutch in,it goes away. Sounds like a truck ideling. Also at very low rpm, the exhaust rattles. From the chatter. This is a huge common problem with every G. Someone please have a solution.

You knew this from the get go yet you still went for a light weight fly wheel? I don't think there's anything you can do..but go back to a stock flywheel.

Amazing!

What is wrong with the stock clutch and flywheel?

I still had the stock clutch and flywheel on my 06 G35 when I traded it in at 171796 miles.

They last a long time if you know how to properly drive a stick shift.

What was the difference in price between the OEM clutch and flywheel and the one you installed?

Undoubtedly, the lighter replacement flywheel is not a dual-mass type like the OEM. It does not absorb nearly as much (any) of the sharp impulse energy of the raucous V6 in front of it, so it is allowed to transmit on through into the transmission and rattle the gears on the main-shaft, which typically sounds like rolling a bunch of heavy bolts around inside a coffee can.

I get frustrated with how often and how casually I see recommendations made here for people to just replace their OEM flywheel with a lightweight one. All they typically mention is how ridiculously expensive the OEM one is and how much better value the other is, without also making it clear how they are opening themselves up to potentially sounding like a cement truck.

Sorry slotterjordan, nobody ever said getting an education was cheap.

I have 2 G37s with manual transmissions. Both have has the clutch and flywheel replaced. Neither has been abused or driven by someone who doesn't know how to drive a manual transmission. Mine has a very robust aftermarket clutch and lightened steel flywheel and my wife's has OEM replacement parts. Both of them sound like a cement truck. They did before and still do after replacement. Mine is not louder or worse than hers. The difference is in the engagement and pedal effort, as well as the clamping force of the clutch.
