Anyone has the Z1 intake plenum mod?

Saw this part on their website (Z1 VQ37 Intake Plenum Power Mod 370Z & G37)

So basically a modified intake plenum that allow more volume of air to go into the engine, thus giving the car more power.

The dyno chart looks really promising and the price is much cheaper ($295) compare to Motordyne plenum mod which I'm sure its the same thing.

Anyone that has this can comment on the power increase, dyno chart if you have and installation process?

Thanks in advance.

Just do it your self or find a machine shop to do it. It's just slightly ported is all.

And those dyno's have a tune, header, TP, intake and CBE. It's not from the manifold. You might however get that 8hp up top over the m370 but whats the difference over a normal manifold?? It's not exactly apples to apples when many don't have the m370. it's also read in std correction so subtract 4% to get the real power numbers.

I had the Z1 power mod done a few weeks ago. I had the M370 before I got the power mod done. I saw a big improvement in mid range power and response with the M370. I had Z1 install the power mod at the same time as my gears, diff bushings and an UpRev tune. The car was a whole new animal to say the least. I think you will see the same power between both the Z1 and the M370. The Z1 is less expensive, but you have to remove your current plenum, ship it, wait for them to ship back and then install. The reason I made the switch is because I was there and did'nt have to pay for all the shipping or an install since they were doing all of the other work and I sold the M370 for more than the costs of the Z1.

If you have more specific questions let me know, I hope this helps a little.

Appreciated the comment. Actually, according to their website, you can get the Z1 plenum mod first, install it and ship back your stock core part for a partial refund. So the cost will be $295.

My car has Stillen V2 intake, Stillen headers, test pipes, full HKS CBE and an Osiris Uprev tune. Hopefully this mod can make some good numbers on the dyno. I will post back the result here.

^^ Just double check that. The only reason I say that is because the guy who purchased my M370 called and was told what I stated above. I am not saying anything negative about Z1.. they did an amazing job. Just check before for yourself so you know how the process works and you can plan ahead if the car happens to be your DD.

So you'll only be adding the mani and possibly an update tune? I'd like to see just that but only with a before an after. I doubt that's possible though since you'll probably add the mani on at home and go to the dyno? Will they have a dyno for you when you last got tuned?

got my Z1 plenum last weekend. It looks like they sand down all the ports at the opening a little bit and you can definitely see the marking where they use a sand papers to sand it down.

I will post some pics tonight when i get home.

thought about modifying my stock Plenum myself..i figured the just sanded down the ports abit very easy to get it..maybe ill put it on my to do list..
ever since i tuned the stock Plenum is alot or Torquer down low but really lacks the pull in the mid to upper RPM range like the M370 Plenum has.
would be fun to see if i could get the stock plenum to be the M370 plenum in the mid to upper range but still have the TQ down low that is missing from the M370..

A review from 370z forums.

Sorry all, i should have chimed in sooner on this. All in all i wasnt sure i wanted to review it yet. When i got it i was rather dissapointed in the quality. 2/3ds of the sanding or porting done was rather rough and i ended up grabing some light sandpaper and smoothing it all down in the end. Whoever did the work also made a mistake and in the core i got there was a dollop of resin where they had sanded through a wall and needed to repair...which wouldent have bothered me if whoever did it had bothered to sand it all back down smooth. As it was it took about an hour to smooth all the rough spots out and clean it up a bit.

That all said its been on the car for some time now and ive logged just over 500 miles with a tune and love it. It is a gain although how much im not sure since my tunes are Etunes through Dynotronics.

Its hard to see in the picture below but on the left side where the throttle body meets the manifold there is a part that has a rough look. Its where the resin is. I can take a closer picture if needed to show it.

I think you got that backwards. The m370 has a nice increase in mid range power but lacks the gains up top. The z1 mod increases the mid range up to almost m370 territory but you keep your power up top. So the modded stock one is the better mani now.

i dont have it backwards im not going by what Z1 post for there Plenum against the M370..the stock plenum is what im comparing the M370 with on my car...

the stock plenum is great down low and stucks up top..
M370 lacks down low but picks up mid-range and on..

My car stock plenum vs M370...any questions?
