How do you store your vehicle? And what is the climate like? Do you leave the car without driving it for extended periods of time?

I’m back bitches!!

Did y’all miss me? Hey Black Betty. 👋 missed u too. How’s the wifey?

Anyways, I have been having this crazy *** limp mode with p0300, P0524, p0011, and twice I got the p1421. In the past, I have gotten p0300 and dealership kept saying it was a battery issue. Have a yellow top now. Moved and no longer have my favorite Infiniti dealership to go to but have Nissan and after diagnostic, they said it was my timeing chain and quoted me $3k! I have over 270 misfires on banks 1,3,&5. I have 94k on my 08 G37s coupe and have only EVER been late for one oil change and that was this very last one. I freaked out then and asked about my oil condition and they said it was normal. After this issue started, I checked my oil (Eneos since 2010) and it was dirty asf after 1k miles. And I discovered that they returned my last quart to me unopened. except for the past year, my car has been Garage kept but has always been very well cared for.

Anyways, call me crazy but I have never heard of a timing chain going out on a car less than 200k miles unless it was ran into the ground. after doing some reading around here, I see that my susupicions are justified. My service advisor was definitely not expecting me to question them. And apparently the tech they have working on it is an “Infiniti” tech. So with yalls suggestions, I am gonna see if I can’t get them to rule out oil pressure (I don’t see that it was even checked on the reports.) oil change and the selenoid. But does anyone have any other suggestions? Attached are my disgnostic reports and parts list that does not include this gasket. Also, I am not a mechanic but does the radiator need to be removed and coolant refilled for this? This seems like a lot of unnecessary parts to be replaced and it will prob not fix my problem.

reports.

Got an email back this morning that Nissan is now refusing to work on my vehicle bc I asked about this other stuff. Guess I will be driving it down to Sewell Infiniti. Do y’all think I should drive it 2hrs away?

unfortunately yes, the cool lent needs to be changed to do this job on the car, the whole front end needs to come off to get to it basically....also you're gonna want to change your water pump for 50-60 bucks while you're in there anyways... and get that oil gallery gasket for another 30 bucks or so while you're in there...Z1 Motorsports has a really good price on the parts in a kit (all OEM parts) and you can customize it to add water pump or rings and the gallery gasket...price was the best I could find online overall...

personally wouldn't drive 2 hours for this job unless you insist on the dealership doing it, but if you insist on a dealership doing the work and you already have a relationship and trust them then its definitely worth the drive... its not a specialist job, just incredibly time intensive due to all the disassembly involved...a decent independent will do it for way less and ppl have posted DIY's on here on doing it at home over extended periods of time. anyways good luck and hope it gets sorted for you

Hi all! As some of you have no doubt noticed I’m not around 24/7 like I used to be. I’ve sold both our 09 6MT sedan and also Black Betty as well. Had lots of fun and good times with the G but also this repair cost me a ton of money and left quite a sour taste in my mouth regarding the Infiniti brand in general. Yes, I could have done it myself if I absolutely had to but I chose to not use my precious time and sanity on it.

However I am thrilled that by posting about it way back when I was able to help shed some light on the issue as well as help direct some of you more competent DIY types to what the problem is and what needs to be done to correct it. I also hope that maybe I’ve helped influence a few folks to avoid making a potentially costly mistake of buying a used G37 that’s prone to have this issue that Nissan/Infiniti never took ownership of and responsibility for.

Best of luck to everyone dealing with this mess. The Lexus GS350 F Sport that replaced the G that had the problematic oil galley gasket is still running like brand new at 113K miles.
