Broken Motor Mount

So a few days ago, i started feeling a bad vibration at idle when my car was in drive. I took it to the dealership, and they told me it had a broken motor mount. The service advisor said he had never seen that before on this car. It's a 2009 G37X Coupe with about 27,000 miles on it. Anyone else ever run into this? Did I just get a mount with a bad casting? I'm almost out of warranty, so i'm worried about this happening again.

Your power train warranty is 5 years 60,000 miles, but I don't know if that covers motor mounts or not.

I plan to ask about that at the dealership tomorrow.

Your power train warranty will cover your motor mounts.

It unusual for one to break. I wouldn't worry about it happening again. But if it does, it's not a difficult or expensive repair.

So i went to pick up the car at the dealership today, and the vibration is gone. However, on my way home, i noticed the steering wheel is now no longer centered when i am driving straight. I'm guessing somehow they knocked it out of alignment, but they shouldn't have had to mess with the steering to change the motor mount, should they? If it makes any difference, it was the lower mount on the driver's side. They said they ended up having to take the manifold off, so they had to replace the gasket there too. I had to leave it at the dealership so their tech can check it out on monday, but it definitely doesn't instill too much confidence in me that they didn't catch this on the post install test drive.

Probably didn't match up the knuckle at the steering rack assembly. They need to remove that out of the way so they can remove manifold/cat.

Just happened to me - 2010 sedan with 50k miles. Thankfully I had extended warranty so it's covered. I'm glad to hear it solved your issue, since it's been driving me nuts - and now I know to watch out for steering rack alignment.
