Gains w/ Uprev on Stock G37?

My info comes directly from UpRev, who are based in my hometown Austin. They told me what mods would work best for their tune, and made it very clear that a CAI would make no difference with their tune nor would a stock engine.
What would matter for the auto is a motordyne catted ypipe and a PPE longtube.

I recall John @ Visconti saying EcuTek has better control over the ignition timing on the VQ than Uprev and is able to produce more consistent results. See thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...tek-tunes.html
The dyno chart also shows a leaner A/F ratio than the stock tune - picking up power with the RaceROM ignition timing bump.

Running leaner creates more power? I thought rich was optimal for performance, but not as economical as compared to running lean. I know running lean contributes to more heat within the combustion chamber, which is not ideal.

Does anyone know what the Ecutek tune cost?
I got a quote of $500 for the Uprev tune from a local shop.
Also...are there real gains to be had with an intake and HFC's? I saw a posting some where but cannot find it. Just trying to justify the $$$ for the tune.

The HFCs seem to be the gateway to more power, but are not an option for us here in CA. Most of the threads on here on the forum that start out as stock tune threads turn into discussions on HFCs and headers. Here's one of the better ones, but there are many: https://www.myg37.com/forums/engine-...awd-sedan.html

Bringing this back from the dead
Seems like the peak power on the VQ37HR comes above 7100, and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the peak HP right where the engine cuts the power at 7400? With a tune, don't you raise the rev limiter thus allowing you to stay in the peak power a lot better? That right there seems to be enough reason to justify getting a tune.
I'm strongly considering this. Why would we waste our money tuning a stock car you ask? A $5-600 tune costs just as much as ported intakes alone, and without going all out on NA bolt on mods, seems like a gamble to take from the results I've seen. I've figured the bolt ons I'm interested in (ported intakes, HFC) all said and done with a tune will be just under $2500, and the power gains I've often seen are not great and I've even seen some make no power--lose some in areas. I'd rather take that extra $2000 on parts and labor installing the bolt ons and save it for FI. So many of the NA bolt ons are useless for FI such as the HFC and intakes.

This thread caught my attention because I recently had my stock motor blow and replaced it with another one from LKQ. VASTLY Cheaper than factory at only $2400. But in that process, the shop determined my cats were destroyed and I had to replace them. I went with AAM Competition's HFC (on sale for $399) and was back on the road. However, now I have the P0430 code and need a retune to turn this CEL off. I could care less about power gains, faster shifts, or raised rpm limit. I just need this dang code fixed. Been searching for shops that can do that but as stated here, most tuning choices are 500-800. Perhaps with how little I need done, I can get a cheaper rate.
