Or do you use the manual transmission on the bottom? I just use this car for daily use. Not for track or anything. I usually have it on "DS" though. Does this waste more gas? What's the advantages and disadvantages?

The only way I'd consider owning a Sport Sedan with an automatic transmission would be if I lived in an area where most all of my driving was in heavy traffic. But then in that case I probably wouldn't want a Sport Sedan at all... I'd drive a Luxury Car, instead of a G37.

I use D for driving around town and with passengers in the car. DS for driving home from work and spirited driving. You do tend to use more gas in DS as it holds the rpm higher before it shifts. I don't like DS when people are in the car because under braking when the car rev matches people think there's something wrong with the car and it's not nearly as smooth on deceleration. I prefer the up-shifts on DS, they seem to be much smoother and the car drives more like it should IMO.

Paddles most of the time. Hardly DS. Drive in traffic or road trips.

Hi guys just got my G Sedan coming over from an IS. I find it weird that D is more responsive than DS in my car? Is that normal?

this is the OP. I feel like DS, it's more powerful and you can turn better. but if it wastes more gas, i'm going to start using D only.

D for every day driving.

Knock the stick in DS then pull down one gear manually when immediate passing power is needed. You don't want to wait for the car to decide when to downshift in many situations.

seems like a good idea. That's what usually seems like the problem for me when I want to do some spirited driving I pop it into DS then kind of floor it and it feels like the computer is trying to figure out what to do next...

I keep it in drive and use the paddle for that. I think it keeps your car in manual mode for like 10 seconds after the last time you use the paddle shifters, but I do the same thing.

Same here. Or if you want it to return to 'D' sooner, pull and hold the upshift paddle (right paddle) for @3-5 seconds, and it returns to 'D'.

Hmm... Never knew that. Thanks for the insight.

When I had an auto I drove in D all the time unless I was driving spiritedly.. in manual and DS it just used more gas.

I have an 09 with the original transmission software. I've never had my my car reflashed like the others members in the 7AT thread.

In the city I use D only. In the HWY's or in back roads I use D when I'm driving in a relaxed mode, or M since I like to have control of the gears. I'm almost 50 years old and have been driving for 33 years. Only my last 5 years has been with an auto so I like having control of my gears. But again I will only use M in the HWY or in back roads. I don't use DS too much but when I do it's on the HWY or in a back road I'm driving the car very aggressively.

Since the computer adjusts to your driving style I would think driving in DS all the time. like when stuck in traffic or driving relaxed, might make your DS less responsive. But I could be wrong.

Anyway since the poll is asking for daily driving I voted for D since that's when I'm cruising in a relaxed kind of mode.
