K&N drop in filter not snug?

Wondering if you guys can help me out. I installed the 2 K&N drop in air filters, 33-2399 but they didn't fit in the air box as snug as the old ones. I had to push it closed pretty hard to lock it up, is this normal?

Thanks for any advice

no it will always be hard to close and i would just say because of the thicker rubber seal on the k&n filters
