Here are my two cents.... I battled something very similar for months with my G after multiple visits they did the vvel tsb and noise was still there... They check valve clearances and noise was still there they then said it was the flywheel and replaced all the clutch assembly under warranty at 55k miles (lucky me!) and Noise was still there... I kept doing research and my first bet was the fuel damper that older nissan/infinitis had issues with finally they agreed to replace the fuel damper and the noise was GONE! Here is my thread with a better description of what I was experiencing

https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-cou...need-help.html

Yours seems a lot louder though....

What function does a fuel damper perform?? Is it some sort of fuel regulator? Btw, GPR-37S, you never updated that thread with what fixed it...

I need to get to it I just got this resolved like two weeks ago and still no noise.... After 6 months of back and forth....

Here is a good explanation on the damper:

Fuel Pulsation Damper

Just my opinion, but I don't think my $45k car should make any strange loud noises with only 11k miles on it. I have a 16 year old Tacoma with 245k miles on it and it idles quieter than this. I just can't accept the "this is just how it is" excuse. This shouldn't be happening unless it's broken.

Just checked the oil and it's below the upper mark, but at most it's missing one third of a quart. We'll see what the dealer says tomorrow.

Mine is also very quite when idling. I'd take it in as it would not be acceptable in my book.

This noise was not normal in my opinion. I never had it until I hit like 46-48K which kind of tells me it is not normal.... Mine went away with what I posted above, of course I'm not sure whether it is exactly the same thing that happen to me worth mentioning to your dealer...

Dropped the car off this morning. They will probably put the ester oil in. I imagine they will probably do nothing else, lol.

I tried to replicate it for them this morning, but I could not.

anyone else confirm that the Fuel Damper Valve fixed the issue with the engine knocking noise? I'm having the same issue with my 08 coupe with 30,000 miles had the ECU update and have tried ester oil but no go still have engine knocking noise.
