No disrespect, but it would be highly unusual for you to meet with an Infiniti engineer. Typically in situations like this you'd be meeting with a regional service/technical employee. It's been my experience that the expertise and qualification of these employees varies wildly and your odds of a successful intervention are quite literally a crap shoot. Best wishes on a satisfactory resolution

No disrespect right back at ya - He actually was an engineer and they are replacing my long engine block. Went through Infiniti Consumer Affairs to get there, did take about 1 1/2 months - but it worked!

Hey OP, I didn't bother to read all the three pages of posts, I just wanted to give you my take on this as I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. My car had 9K when I installed an intake and I HAD THE SAME EXACT noise. I was panicking because I didn't know how the intake could cause a knocking noise and tried refitting everything. That didn't help but then I took out the MAF sensor and cleaned it. After reinstalling the sensor the problem disappeared completely and hasn't occurred since 1.5K after. Maybe you should try that, cleaning the MAF sensor.

I have had no noise with the esther oil in the car. We just got back from a 2k+ mile trip, and the car did great. I was scrutinizing it the whole way. Just hit 15k, so it's time for another oil change.

I have the same nocking as the OP, but not quite as loud.

There are some good suggestions on here for the fix.

ThaqAtaq, Can you say more about your problems? Why did they think it was the long block? Can you start a thread about your experience and link us? This would really help the community to know your details and help others with Infiniti Consumer Affairs. Thanks

No idea. Doesn't sound to me like something that is good. As someone else said, sounds like it's starved for lube.

I just don't like the idea of my $45k car making noises that $10k pieces of junk never made in my vehicle past.

I'm at 53767 and that noise just started to be more consistent(DAILY ACTUALLY) and it's poising me off. My car sounds horrible in comparison to when I first got it. It occurred around 42K, but went away now it's an everyday occurrance.

Hey guys does this sound as if its the Fuel Damper ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cBH...ature=youtu.be

It continues to happen even when the engine is at proper operating temperature. Even more so after a bit of heavy driving.

Thanks

I can't see the video but I have had this issue since I have had the car. I want to get it fixed and IDK what to do. Read all the post and I see Ester Oil, Fuel Damper, Long Block....wtf...should I just take it to dealer? I don't know if I can recreate the sound in a time of need because it seems random when it happens.
