9psi Pulley Belt

Seems like this is the most current thread on Stillen SC's - I am on the cusp of upgrading to the 9psi pulley - could anyone share what part# they have used for a belt that fits this pulley? I am assuming the belt that is on with the stock 8psi pulley will not fit/can't be tensioned to fit the smaller pulley?

Thanks!

I suggest you not. Have you looked into possibly upgrading the kit to Air-Air. I'll be doing my build this upcoming week.

Keep us updated on the air-to-air conversion. Interested in seeing how this goes. Something to think about this coming fall when I boost!

Air 2 Air

Hello - I did see the thread on the Air 2 Air kit - still haven't seen numbers posted or any confirmation of success though - is there another thread? The one I was following Sasha from Boosted Performance said he was going to 'pick it up in the spring'...I actually pinged him on Facebook about the air 2 air, no response yet.

That said, my bottom end is built, Eagle Rods, Moly Coated Forged JE pistons, ARP head studs and cosworth head-gasket. I don't think the smaller pulley is going to sink my battle-ship.

Anyone able to answer my question on belt sizing for the 9psi pulley?

I just have the standard belt on mine, but doesn't the bracket allow for enough adjustment to tension up a smaller pulley?

I know some people were building custom brackets and braces to eliminate flex, which would stress the belt. Over on the Z board, they seem to have more experience with altering the factory kit. I would try to get in touch with JWillis, Top, and Swiss on the other board, they have all gone pretty far from the stock kit as a starting point.

TOPZ made the kit les than 1500 shipped pics look pretty good. I've spend lots of time over there. All the guys in the tread are good people. TOPZ made 527whp 414 tq @6800 then the belt slipped!! Legit kit man

I should have the A-A kit by next week. I believe Topz was also using the cog pulley setup btw, which is why it was slipping. If the 9psi pulley is the 2.90", then it uses the same belts as the stock kit. If I had my bottom end built, I'd just find out fitment for the V2 and just slap that on there.

Correction: The 9psi pulley is either 2.87" or 2.75". I think some people measured the ones that Stillen sells you (Must sign a waiver for) and it came out to be 2.75. Just an fyi, this will overspin the supercharger unit by a bit. The 2.87" pulley is within the specs, so it will be safer.

From: Framingham Ma,
Yea he just conformed that it over spins by 3600 RPMS also. :/ Shady man if you ask me. Sign a waiver cause the SC will blow

I actually think it might be ok, since it will only overspin at redline, but I rather be on the safer side. I'm probably going with the 2.87" for now, since I'm not willing to give up my supercharger for a few weeks to have the impeller upgraded.

Thanks for the helpful responses Milkcow500 and AMNVQ! I see we are all east coast, we should do a cars n coffee sometime =) I need to find the link for the TOPZ kit that sounds super promising, would love to see the Dyno sheets.

SO I did get my smaller pulley from Stillen - the 2.75, not excited to hear about the overspin, that said - I was considering doing the impeller upgrade as well but was on the fence due to the temp concerns running that high of boost. Perhaps I Air2Air first before doing either the pulley or the impeller and go from there. Did the initial TOPZ build for this Air2Air measure intake air temps?

I wouldn't go by Top's sheets because his pulley setup is pretty aggressive. I'm getting one of his kits in the mail this week, so I'll let you know how fitment is for the G37 next week sometime.

The MAFs are relocated, so proper IATs can be monitored and I'm pretty certain the temps should be much much lower due to the configuration and the fact that the FMIC is rated for much larger power (Due to the fact he's building it around the possibility of using the V2 as well).

Here is one idea though. Instead of replacing the pulley, you can remove the whole inlet boot and install a larger filter directly to the volute of the supercharger unit (Unfortunately you have to remove the whole unit to do so). This will actually net you about 3 psi more. There's a Q50 who has done this and he's sitting at 500whp. Although it's still unsafe due to temps, he's still running 'fine'.

Thanks for the information - I would have to see some pics of the inlet boot removal/replace, not quite sure I am visualizing it.

That said, where can I obtain some information on this air to air kit and pricing? Is there a website or is this all direct communication with the fabricator? I am very interested in going this route and saving the time/hassle of more heat issues with the water-air.

Thanks!

You can find all the info you need here: Topgunz - air to air upgrade - Nissan 370Z Forum. You will need to get Top a message and let him know you are interested. He's finishing up on a few kits right now (including mine), so there may be some lead time if you want one.

The first pic shows what the intake boot looks like from the kit out of the box. This is a pipe that splits into two intake heads. If you remove this then you can just add a larger filter as shown in the second pic, which is directly mounted on the supercharger without the extra piping.

For those who are interested in what the kit pretty much looks like: That y-pipe is art and I hope it fits in our bay without modification. Piping is aluminum btw, so any fabbing will need to be TIG welded. Let's just hope we won't need any.

No $hit, the dual intake actually reduced flow? Seems like an easy mod, though with extra 3 psi, I would think its the pulley OR that, both would probably end in tears. Thanks for the pics!!

Thanks for the info on the 370 thread, I will register over there now. Definitely would love to hear about how your build/tune goes man , keep us posted!
