I pulled out of the drive way this morning and when it's time to shif from 1st to 2nd gear ..i couldn't shift to 2nd at all. It feels like there is a wall and i couldn't get into 2nd. So i tried to put it in 1st but same thing. It feels like the wall is blocking 1st and 2nd. So i was in neutral at the middle of the intersection. Good thing it's Saturday and not a lot of traffic. I waited for like 10 seconds and tried to put it in 1st again and it went in this time. then 2nd it was hard but i got it in anyway. I drove for like 5 min and i think the car is back to normal now. but sometimes it's hard to shift from 1st to 2nd. I don't know what's going on. What do you guys think?

 

This has not happened to me. Although the gear switching does require more force when the car is cold, I was never not able to get into 2nd gear. There is a gate that prevents you from downshifting to 1st gear at speeds > 15mph.

 

How long had the car been running before this happened? Manuals can be a bit picky about gears when they're cold.

 

i waited until the normal temp before i started moving the car. So the car was warm up already

 

Can you explain more about this gate? I have trouble going for second to first when trying to get into my driveway, but it will go into first after a second or two. This is under 10mph.

As for your question, I don't want to frighten, but that could be a sign your transmission is going bad. When was your last fluid change?

You think it could have anything to do with that? Did you do it yourself? Right fluid? You still got warranty? Let me know what happens. I'm very paranoid about the clutch and transmission.

What you can do is blip the throttle a little trying to get it into 1st gear while moving a few miles

 

I have that problem too. I usually skip to 3rd. I thought it would be normal like first gear
