I own a 2010 G37x and wanted to comment on the automatic transmission. Personally I love the automatic shifting with heavy braking. It significantly contributes to the sportiness of the car. It makes me miss driving a manual transmission a little less. The assisted engine braking actually goes a long way to balance the braking in the car. It assists the braking bias and reduces the propensity of a heavier car to understeer with a poor braking decision. The only thing that feels weird to me is that I am not in control of its decision to shift and assist braking. It would be nice to know when the ECU triggers to automatically shift for braking assist.

The transmission is not without its flaws though. Shifting while in drive mode is horrible. The pedal responsiveness feels mushy and takes too long to hunt down a gear. I feel bad for anyone who did not get paddle shifters as an option because it is a must if you want to quickly shift for highway passing and acceleration.
