I have always wondered what would cause the problem with just changing the final drive in the rear differential and leaving stock on the front.

The front wheels are only engaged by the transfer case when the rear wheels are spinning faster. The system send upto 50% power to the front wheels until all the wheels are spinning at the same speed again.

I think of the awd system transfering power (torque) to the front wheels. It doesn't matter (or I think) how much that power spins the front wheels. Eventually all four wheels will spin at the same speed and the awd system will be idle.

Thoughts?

I know the GTR has an upgraded ATESSA system. Check the final drive ratios on front and rear diffs.

Did you guys bother with the install kits for the final drive? I'm seriously debating this right now.

O.P. where did you get the installation done, and what should be paid specific attention to?

Just joined this site. Hi all. Ordered a 4.08 FD today and I'm running a 125 spit in my 350Z. I saw this forum had a nice thread on this gear. So, has anyone been running a 100+ shot with this gear at the track? Pros/cons? I run a window switch skip shift 1st gear spray 35-65 de red at 7k. I break loose in 2nd when I shoot with 295s. If anyone is running a 100+ with the the 4.08 any knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks. You can see my sig at ZCARMOTORING.COM

Hi from Australia...

I have a couple of questions about this mod:

1) will it go into a JDM 2007, 5AT Skyline 370GT? (i dont have cruise control)
2) has anyone recorded 0-60 time with the mod?

I know I'm very late, year late on this post. But is the 4.08 ratio stock on the 370? Or does ours just have to be adjusted. Thanks

3.69 is stock in 370z as well as g37. 4.08 is stock in the Nissan frontier
