If I can't accelerate it drops down. Is that part of rev matching and normal?? Hasn't happened in D.
DS mode sets the ECM to maximum performance. The ECM monitors wheel speed, cornering/braking forces and throttle opening, among other things. Coast along in gear and drop speed in DS mode and the seven-speed tranny will downshift and rev match to keep your G in the heart of the powerband. DS mode is similar to what a performance driver would do with a manual transmission to prepare the car for maximum acceleration. Your G is functioning normally.

It's supposed to do that. The DS mode puts you in the appropriate powerband at all times. Meaning, the lowest possible gear at any given speed, in order to take off quickly once you push the throttle.

I have a 2010 X and I have the same issues. There is a jerk especially when switching from 1st to 2nd gear going slow. When driving the car hard the tranny performs great - a real pleasure. In addition, If I'm cruising in "D", and suddenly decide to push hard on the throttle, it takes a huge pause before actually downshifting and pushing forward. This is a huge downside and prevents me from making quick passes when needed. Is anyone else experiencing this?

well if you were in DS mode im sure the rpms would be higher so you could pass much easier.

For some reason the DS mode doesn't make passing much faster. There is still that long downshift pause. I had an I35 before this (no sports mode in that, no sports anything) and I think it downshifted faster.

It sure does on mine. I have gotten into the habit of dropping the car into DS any time I think I am going to need/want that response from the car. Putting the car in DS is like driving a a different car from when it is in D.

exactly. when you put the car in DS it holds the RPMS in the 3-4 K range so if you need to take it the take doesn't have to rev up correct?

I think what he's saying is.....
Sometimes a person could want more than 3-4k, therefore requiring a quick downshift.....something this tranny seems to have problems with frequently.

Yes, the car is a rocket. I like how it takes off from standstill while shifting manually. So I have any other complaints with the tranny except for my original one. Or maybe I'm just doing it wrong. When I cruised on the highway in D mode and needed instant power, I dropped it in DS mode, waited a few seconds and pushed on the throttle. Am I supposed to wait longer for the DS mode to "sink in" before pushing it, so that I don't experience the pause?
