When the car switches Gears?
I don't know if anyone else notices this but when the car is in automatic and your driving slow and your slowing increasing the speed of the car it seems like sometimes you really feel the transmission switching gears sort of like feels like it makes a kick or jolt from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th and so on.? But when I step on the gas a little hard and give it a boot it flies through the gears like a sports car ha

First you have to realize that this is a new transmission for
Infiniti so some "bugs" may not have been worked out yet.
There is a reprogram for the TCM (transmission control module) out right now that fixes some harsh shifting problems. And im sure more are to come. Go to any dealer and they should do it for you. Also you need to know that this is a seven speed transmission and may need to downshift more than one gear at certain times so a little shift shock is normal. Hope this helps

The seven-speed automatic tranny was designed by Infiniti engineers to offer rapid lockup with the torque converter. This offers a firm feel each time the box shifts up or down. This characteristic certainly befits a sportscar (370Z), sports coupe (G37 Coupe) or sport sedan (G37 sedan). I like it a lot!

so your saying when the car shifts gears when your increasing speed and when the car starts to slow down and you feel the same lock up thats normal and suppose to happen?

That's correct. The firm lockup of the torque converter offers a similar feel that a clutch and manual gearbox would, only the shifts are faster. One of the big complaints about slushboxes is the lazy way they shift. This gearbox addresses that criticism and truly gives the G37 the tactile feedback a sport sedan should.

Last night I was thinking the same. I was going slowly and noticed a few times the little jerk from 2nd to 3rd gear, almost felt like a really subtle stalling of the transmission. I'm happy to hear it's normal.
Would the software update automatically be installed once I go for my first maintenance?

The update for was for Infiniti 7ATs produced before late Spring of '09. Anything produced after that had the latest software installed at the time of production.

i hope its normal because whenever i seem to start driving my car from when it has been sitting for a while (like 6+ hours) when i seem to step on the pedal lightly or come to a stop i almost feel like a shiftlock that way. anyone know what im talking about?

well most of the time when driving the gears seem to switch pretty smoothly. other times it almost feels like a little jerk/ lockup usually when driving the car after its been sitting for 6+hours, but it does happen sometimes after running it for more than an hour. thats why i can figure out if its normal for the sports transmission or its something to worry about. anyone?

I have about 550 miles on my 2010 G and I just noticed when I'm on the highway in DS doing about 55 in traffic and 2000 to 2500rpm and take my foot off the accelerator transmission appears to downshift and engine rev's to 4 grand????????????? If I can't accelerate it drops down. Is that part of rev matching and normal?? Hasn't happened in D.
