G37x transmission downshift issue - any updates??
Should I contact my dealer about this if my car is a 2010 model? I'd hate to run into the problem when i could have gotten it fixed now. It's sunday so they're closed right now. I assume the update would be done on the 2010 cars?
Also as an interesting note.. when i talked to the manager when i picked up the car this week he said something about Infiniti releasing a new software update this week that screwed up a bunch of stuff and they had to pull it back.

If you're a 2010, you probably have the updated software. But, no harm in checking.
Overall I do like the 7AT. It's fairly smooth and shifts well when agressively pushed. My biggest issue with the 7AT is the need for it to be in 7th gear when you're going 35 mph. I was driving up a hill today in heavy traffic. Speed was 30-35 mph and I was in 7th gear! When you're going 30-35 and in 7th gear, the G has very little ***. And yeah, I know I can kick down with the shifters or switch to DS mode, but I guess I don't under why the car chooses 7th gear when going that slow up a hill. Sorry, just had to rant for a while...

i totally agree - the car should know it's going uphill and lugging it's own engine at a very slow speed. other then any electronic jockeying they intentionally designed to conserve fuel there is no excuse for that type of performance...
I have a 2010 with 1200 miles on it...and mine has this same tendency...I have been hand shifting it or adding a little throttle to force it to down shift to keep it from lugging on inclines and dropping below 1500 rpms...I like good gas mileage as much as the next guy but come on...the car should know when to down shift...especially with 7 speeds to choose from!
By the same token..when in DS mode it has a reluctancy to upshift when it seems like it should...there doesn't seem to be a happy medium. Hoping it "learns" soon and works more like I would expect
I wish the thing had a button or something to keep it from using 7th and maybe even 6th.

I really do hate the 7AT on my 2101 g37X. It shifts awfully hard when it is cold. Never had a problem with my 2008 g35X.....I want that transmission back...to heck with the improved mpg...MPG is not the reason you buy this car!! I have 1500 miles on it and I am very fustrated with it. How long does it take to "learn" your driving patterns. It seems it just keeps shifting until it get to 7th gear even if you are only going 35 mph in traffic.....help!!
