*FIX for high-pitch frequency noise*
well i brought my car in yet again for the high pitch whine issue. the replacement transmission did not fix the whine. it did fix the difficult 1 to 2 shift during high rpms though. the tech guy said that he listened to the ecu for the high pitch whine, but it didn't seem to be coming from there... also, they tried reprogramming my ecu, but that did not fix the noise either. i was pretty adamant about telling them to replace the ecu, so my service guy is going with me on that. i will probably get the ecu replaced in my coupe next week. hopefully that solves the problem
whattt you got a replacement transmission over this noise? all you have to do is contact consumer affairs and tell them to inform the dealership of the fix. the fix is to replace the ECM
yeah i kept being insistent that the ecu was making the noise, but the tech guy thought it was transmission since the noise went away when pushing in the clutch pedal. my service advisor recommended i replace the transmission anyway since my car is still under warranty. why not, right? i like my service advisor
My tech called me today, the ordered me a replacement ECM. There is no TSB, infiniti is keeping this fix on the down low - it exists, it is documented, but no TSB has been released, it's sort of like going to the video store in the 70's and asking to see the 'special' unadvertised room of the racy stuff. I told the tech that I am sure it's not a cheap fix, and told me it cost a little over a grand to buy the ECM. All the programming is in there, apparently, he'all just swap it out on Monday and I'll be good to go. Maybe check a few things on the laptop.
They are also going to resurface my rotors because of a little shimmy after hard braking at high speeds, and they fixed some rattles in my doors (from my speakers). They are looking into my complaints of throttle lag (but he says there is **probably** nothing they can do, it's the nature of the VVEL system, it has to swing all of the trick valve train crap into position, he says it will always be slower to respond than a real throttle body valve) , and they may give me the ECU re-tune for the noisy valve train + (to go with my ester oil). But nobody!! at my dealer had even heard of the ester oil, and they don't sell it, lol. FTR, I bought it (the ester) from my local Nissan place, who puts it in their 370zs.

WOW, my car just started showing this after 2,000 miles. 2009 37x Sedan. I assumed it was something unique to my car, but this is crazy.
Any helpful hints on what to tell the dealership about the problem? Infiniti is definitely aware of the problem now?

infiniti consumer affairs is def. aware of this issue and their is a fix out for this.
I would first explain to the dealer about the high pitch frequency noise that occurs whenever the car's rpm goes over 1,000. doesnt matter if the car is in motion or in park and you just rev the car a little. DO NOT mention you saw a fix for this on the forums yet, dealers seem to hate that and will call you crazy saying 'just cause you read about the problem doesnt mean you have it'. The tricky part is to get the dealer to acknowledge the noise.
If this doesnt work and they give you a hard time, tell them consumer affairs has a fix for this and to ask if they can give consumer affairs a call. they might give you a hard time again. At that point just call consumer affairs yourself and open a case. they will get the issue resolved by telling the dealership how to fix it and what parts to order etc ...

Just got mine back - noise all gone, thank effing God, but the dealer didn't get my trim panels and glove compartment back on exactly right. The dash 'end' cap on the passenger side is comes out a little on the bottem, I can see where clip isn't ogin in correctly, but I can't get it to go in, and I think the glove box is up and out a little. Lord God almighty, this is an exact replay of my G8 issues - the dealer took apart my dash, then didn't get the trim parts back on correctly, and it was never the same again.
I can't make it back easily as they are 90 miles away. Does anybody have instructions on how to remove the glove box and various associated dashboard pieces? I'm ging to have to take it apart, and then put it back together correctly.
BTW, with the new ECM, it drives like crap - total bog down at lower speeds. Can't take it anymore, order the hypertech programmer tonight. Next up - Tannabe full exhaust from the future - I want my 25 lbs of new-found torque.

The glovebox, ( that's where the ecm is located, behind the glovebox) the passenger side or ' cap ' on the dashboard, next to the glovebox, and possibly the dash cover itself, and they also have to pull the carpet back, I know this because mine has not been reattached correctly- it's a little awry and lumpy.
If somebody could take pictures of the passenger footsell where the carpet attatches, and the area where the dash lines up with the top lip ofthe glove box and the side dash cap, I'd greatly appreciate it, as I need a reference for my fixes....

My service person wasn't sure what to do because they said they can try and fix it but since nobody can hear it but me that they won't know if they fixed it.
I've had FOUR friends who can hear the noise though and heard immediately with no doubts.
