SES light code P0605

On the way home from work today, I got an unpleasant surprise. The SES, Slip, and VDC light came on in my car and my car went into server limp mode. I could not go over 1600RPM. I drove my car for another block to where I could pull over and check things out. I could have ran faster than what my car was moving along at. I barely pasted a guy who was walking on the sidewalk. I turned off my car on the side of the road and started it up again but it was still in limp mode. Well I have an ODB reading in my trunk so I got to an area where I could stop and got the reader to view the code(s) that were the cause. I have two P0605 codes. I had no idea what they were for so I started my car again and the issue was gone. No more limp mode. I looked online and it says the code is for the ECU/ECM. This sucks. I left the codes but I am not sure what I should do. I am thinking of waiting to see if it was just a fluke or take it into the dealership. The only thing different on my car is the FI Carbon exhaust. Not sure what the problem is or what to do though.

I know you dont want to do this but unplug your negative to your battery let is sit for 20 min and give that a shot.. If it doesnt work take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it .DO NOT HINT OR MENTION IT MIGHT BE MOD RELATED !Good Luck !!!DOMO

Think it could be due to the cats? Could also just be random. Lastly check to make sure your battery terminals are connected tightly. On my way home from HIN a few months ago my battery calbe became disconnected and the car went into limp mode

They only possible problem that would throw that code, according to the service manual is the ECM being faulty, or it was a fluke. I wouldn't take ANY chances and I'd bring it to the dealership ASAP. They only need to run 3-4 quick tests with the consult III attached and they'll know if it was a fluke or not.

Sorry to hear about your car. Do you have a link that would show me how to use an OBD reader in the g- i.e.- where to plug in etc? Also what brand OBD do you recommend? Thanks -I hope it is nothing big.

The battery has not been messed with so I don't think it is that. I looked up the code and it says it is a bad ECU or ECM but I read also that because it is a computer that it could just be a hickup in the system. I am going to drive to work today and see. Maybe this could explain my no gains with the FI exhaust? The stupid ECU is broke so no more power. j/k.

I don't think my CATs are bad. I am pretty sure that like that AZ and I have is due to Air/Fuel ratio in the CATs which I think can be fixed with an ECU tune.

I have the reader in my car. It was like 60 dollars at autozone. I bought the cheapest one there just so I can clear the SES light and to view them to make sure it was not something else. The ODB port is under the drivers console by the clutch or brake. You have to get under there and look up.

I checked out on All Data for you.
p0605 ECM A) calculation function malfunctioning
B) EEP-Rom system malfunctioning
C) ECM self shutting off system malfuntioning

If A is detected the ECM goes into a Fail safe mode which stop the electirc throttle control valve, maintaining at a fixed opening.

Advise to OP do not clear that code and get the ECM replaced...

This maybe our reason why our cars going to limp mode on the track.....

Car is at the dealership and they are going to replace the ECM. They are also going to move my sensor on the CAT which they believe might help with the CAT light I am getting.

So I got my car back a little while ago and everything seems to be running fine with it so far. I talked to them about the sensors in the HFC and they told me they moved it up to the next spot. I have not looked under the car yet to see where it is exactly and I am not sure when I will get a chance. I still don't know if they HFC code I am throwing is fixed but I should know in a week or two after driving around for a while. They did tell me that the sensors where not in the direct stream which was part of the problem and that there was condensation on the sensors do to where they were located.

That's an odd code...... First time for everything.

About the condensation, the O2 sensors should be pointing between 12 and 3 o'clock. You don't want to point them down, that's how condensation can collect.

Wow, you obviously didn't take it to Grubbs Infiniti!

Sounds like your dealership takes care of you. I'm jealous.
